SISTAR’s Hyorin transforms into a ’60s pop star for ‘SURE’

SISTAR‘s Hyorin transformed into a ’60s pop star for a recent photo shoot with fashion magazine ‘SURE‘.

Hyorin picked Beyonce as her favorite pop star, and expressed a pop star’s bubbly and lovely charms as she perfectly pulled off colorful dresses and hoop earrings.

During the interview following the shoot, Hyorin shared, “My fashion style must be following my personality because I can’t stand complicated or suffocating things. Also for colors, I like bright ones rather than dark ones to make my tan skin stand out more.”

She also revealed, “The place that is happiness rather than fanciness is the stage. Like Beyonce who was happy visiting small hospitals and singing in front of the patients, I want to be a happy singer.”

Hyorin’s fans will be able to check out her bubbly photo shoot and interview in the September issue of ‘SURE’.

Actor Park Gun Hyung reveals he’s a fan of SISTAR’s Hyorin

Actor Park Gun Hyung, who starred in the recently concluded drama ‘I Do I Do‘, selected SISTAR‘s Hyorin as his favorite female idol group singer.

On the August 26th broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Section TV‘, the actor was asked who his favorite girl group was to which he immediately answered, “SISTAR“, without hesitation.

Reporter Hwang Jae Sung, who is also widely known for being a fan of SISTAR, remarked, “I like SISTAR, too,” and the two proudly shook hands as they both had something in common. Park Gun Hyung then selected Hyorin as his favorite member and explained, “There’s nothing in particular. I just like her a lot. Her body is simply charming.”

The actor then expressed his envy of the reporter upon hearing that he had spoken with SISTAR before.

Girl’s Generation’s Taeyeon chosen as the #1 ‘Blind Date Girl’

On a poll for Y-STAR‘s ‘Curious‘, 200 participants were asked which female they would most want to go on a blind date with. After all the votes were tallied, Girl’s Generation‘s powerful vocal leader Taeyeon was chosen as the number one female idol they would go on a blind date with.

One participant who voted for Taeyeon claimed, “If I was to be able to have a blind date with Taeyeon, I would even sell my house,” showing his loyalty towards the female idol.

Popular female artists such as Suzy, YoonA, and Hyorin were chosen as runner-ups on the poll. In addition, for the male idol, JYJ‘s Park Yoochun was crowned as number one male idol they would go on a blind date with.

The show is scheduled to air on August 26th.

SISTAR reveals the member with the highest income on ‘All the K-Pop’

On MBC Music‘s ‘All the K-Pop‘, special guests SISTAR ranked their incomes within the group.

MC Boom kicked off the question by asking, “I heard that popular girl groups make quite a lot in income. Which of the members make the most?”

The girls replied honestly and chose Hyorin, explaining that they divided income earned from digital song sales and variety show appearances. Income not shared with the group members include drama appearances. Hyorin stated, “It’s true that my income came out greater than my fellow members after I starred in a drama. I’m pretty sure that Dasom will come up to second since she’s currently starring in a sitcom.”

Bora jokingly asked back, “I wonder why we have to divide our variety show income?”

When asked to rank who they thought had the best legs within the group, the group unanimously named Bora. Bora had previously headlined for having ultra thin ankles, and upon checking it against Boom’s wrist on the spot, Bora’s ankle came out to be thinner than his wrist!

SISTAR’s Hyorin receives a fan letter written on a receipt

SISTAR‘s Hyorin was touched by a unique fan letter she recently received.

On August 8th, the singer shared the above photo via SISTAR’s official Twitter page and wrote, “Ahh.. I’m so touched! I didn’t know! Thank you so so much.”

A fan had written Hyorin a message on the back of a receipt, which read, “Unni I’m a fan of yours. I will always cheer you on ^^.”

Netizens who saw her tweet also seemed to be impressed, as they wrote, “Wow who wrote that? Jealous!”, “I would be touched too!“, and more.

Meanwhile, Hyorin and the rest of the SISTAR members are actively promoting their summer single, “Loving U“.

SISTAR’s Hyorin appears on ‘Comedy Big League 3′

Hyorin of SISTAR impressed comedians with her gag skills on tvN‘s ‘Comedy Big League 3‘.

On the July 28th broadcast, Hyorin stood on stage with the winning team, Gae-parta (playful mix of words, Dog and Sparta).

In the skit, Hyorin went to ‘Mask ball’ at a club after an invite from CEO of Yang-ggun (Kim Min Soo). According to an insider, the audience of 500 people all welcomed her with cheers so loud they could’ve blown the stage away.

Hyorin showed her comedic side by playing a girl whose personality changes completely when her mask comes on. Before the mask is on, she is cute like any other girl group member, but when she hides her face behind the mask, she unleashes her sexy dance and witty comments.

The production crew complimented, “Her surprise appearance was hotter than when world pop star Will.I.Am appeared at our show.”

Gae-parta’s Yoo Nam Suk remarked, “Hyroin arrived four hours before the recording [despite how busy she is] with her schedule. That’s why we did this well today.”

SISTAR celebrates their ‘Music Bank’ trophy with a group shot

After clinching the coveted first place trophy on KBS‘s ‘Music Bank‘, SISTAR member Hyorin took to her Twitter account to celebrate, uploading a picture that shows the SISTAR members (minus Bora) giddily commemorating their win for ‘Loving U‘.

“Thank you so much for an unexpected present!” Hyorin said. “It’s all because of our fans. We promise to keep our focus and work hard going forward.”

Their fans celebrated the occasion as well. “I really like ‘Loving U’,” enthused a fan. “Congratulations to all the SISTAR members,” praised another.

Verbal Jint would like to work with IU, Hyorin, and Krystal

Hip-hop musician Verbal Jint, who debuted in 1999, has sent a love call to IU, SISTAR‘s Hyorin, and f(x)‘s Krystal.

Verbal Jint guested on the latest broadcast of MBC Music‘s ‘Real Modern Concert‘ and talked about the numerous artists who featured on his latest album, titled ‘10 Years of Misunderstandings‘.

After briefly discussing his new album, the host asked which artist he would like to collaborate with next. To this, Verbal Jint answered, “If I had to select among those younger than me, I would select IU, SISTAR’s Hyorin, and f(x)’s Krystal.”

After the broadcast, viewers left comments such as, “Verbal Jint acknowledges IU“, “Who wouldn’t want to work with them?“, “I would love to see a collaboration between him and IU“, and “Great selection.”

Girl group members reveal how team leaders are decided on ‘Come to Play’

On July 9th, girl group leaders Hyosung (SECRET), Hyorin (SISTAR), Gyuri (KARA), JeA (Brown Eyed Girls), Victoria (f(x)), and Sun (Wonder Girls) gathered for a special ‘Battle of the Girls‘ broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Come To Play‘.

The leaders took the time to answer how they were selected to become the leaders of their respective groups.

Hyosung, Gyuri, and Victoria revealed that they were selected because they were the eldest of their group, while JeA was chosen as the leader since she was the one who recruited the members of Brown Eyed Girls, and Sun was selected for being the longest trainee of six years. Hyorin did not give an answer.

In response to Sunye, MC Yoo Jae Suk remarked, “Yes they should make you the leader if you’ve worked that hard,” causing fellow emcee Nayoung to hilariously blurt, “What is there to train for six years?” causing everyone in to the studio to burst out laughing.

In addition, each leader bragged about their teams and shared some of the hardships of being a leader.

Brown Eyed Girls’ JeA reveals she failed her driving test 4 times

On the June 9th broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Come to Play – Battle of the Girls‘ leader special, Brown Eyed Girls leader JeA surprised the studio by revealing that she failed her driving test four times.

The emcees each questioned the girl group leaders whether they have obtained a driver’s license to which JeA shook her head. “I failed the test four times. I passed the writing portion, but failed the on-the-road test.”

The singer then aroused much laughter by commenting, “It’s not like it’s a sin to not have a driver’s license. I plan on not getting one.”

Other’s that guested on this episode were Sun (Wonder Girls), Gyuri (KARA), Victoria (f(x)), Hyorin (SISTAR), and Hyosung (Secret).

Hyorin reveals her first impressions of SISTAR members

On July 2nd’s broadcast of KBS‘ ‘Hello‘, SISTAR‘s Hyorin caught fellow member Bora off-guard by revealing the first impression she had of her.

The girls were asked to describe their first impressions of one another on the program, and Hyorin replied, “I thought Soyu looked feminine and pretty, and that Dasom was really, really pretty. Bora unni looked like someone from the countryside.” Bora playfully feigned her shock upon hearing Hyorin’s first impression of her.

Dasom then revealed her first impression of Hyorin: “She was really cute. She had big pupils so I thought she looked like a sparrow.”

SISTAR’s Hyorin would recruit Jewelry’s Jooyeon for a new girl group + expresses interest in solo debut

In a recent interview, SISTAR‘s Hyorin revealed who she would like to recruit if she had to create a new girl group.

She began by expressing, “I was in the SISTAR unit SISTAR19, but I’d like to go solo in the future as well.” When asked which idols she would choose if she could make a new girl group, she answered Jewelry‘s Jooyeon without hesitation, explaining, “I’ve always been close with Jooyeon unni. Aside from our friendship, I fell in love with her rapping and dancing skills. She’s got exceptional talent and charm that makes her the #1 person I’d recruit for my girl group.”

Hyorin went on to reveal that she had a lot of interest in hip hop music, but couldn’t pursue it because it was important for SISTAR to maintain their own pop-friendly style.

She stated, “I think the type of music I like, am confident in, and want to pursue are all different. The public thinks that SISTAR is really sexy, but we’re actually far from it. We’re tomboyish in real life and don’t feel that we’re sexy in each others’ eyes at all. Since we’ve been trained for such a long time, we merely know how to express ourselves in a sexy way, which I think is the reason why people think we’re a sexy group. It was through practice that we were able to emphasize our sexiness, so we hope to work hard to show different sides of ourselves in the future.”

Starship Entertainment is reported to be looking into possible solo promotions for Hyorin and another unit debut similar to SISTAR19.

Their CEO stated, “After SISTAR’s summer promotions, Dasom will be in a sitcom. The other members don’t have plans yet, so we’re thinking of having Hyorin release a solo mini-album, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”

SISTAR couldn’t eat before “Alone” performances?

SISTAR‘s Hyorin revealed that it was hard for them to eat because of the group’s stage attire for “Alone“.

Hyorin spoke to reporters near Seoul on June 25th and revealed, “The stage attire for “Alone” was very tight so it exposed our bodies. Because of that, we couldn’t wear the clothes after eating. We starved for a few hours before a performance, and afterwards, we inhaled our food.”

SISTAR will be releasing their summer special album ‘Loving U‘ on June 28th, and the girls have created a goal to reach the top with the song. They’ll be showing a more cute and sexy image for “Loving U”, a song about summer love, than the concept they had for “Alone”.

SISTAR’s Hyorin under fire for criticizing ‘M! Countdown’

An online community board recently posted screen captures of SISTAR during an interview on one of Mnet‘s TV programs. The post has received explosive attention from netizens as they shared mixed reactions towards Hyorin‘s comments about Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown‘.

On June 15th, a user uploaded the screen captures along with the title, “SISTAR’s Hyorin directly dissed a broadcaster“. According to the captions on the screen captures, Hyorin answered, “Well, they never give 1st place [to us]” and “A broadcaster that doesn’t understand SISTAR’s feelings?” when asked, “What is ‘M! Countdown’ to SISTAR?” Member Dasom also chipped in by saying, “A strict broadcaster?”

After reading the post, some online visitors commented, “Hyorin is cute. I guess they never won 1st place at ‘M! Countdown’. Soyu looks worried? How cute“, “I like Hyorin“, and “They said it for laughs. Calm down“.

However, some thought Hyorin spoke before thinking twice and commented, “Honestly, I think they have become a little arrogant after getting popular“, “This is considered cute? That pose looks arrogant to me“, and “It’s good to be careful with words that could mislead people.”

SISTAR members Hyorin and Soyu prefer to sleep naked

SISTAR‘s Hyorin revealed that she and fellow member Soyu prefer to sleep in the buff.

Hyorin made a guest appearance on the latest ‘Korean Diva’ episode of MBC‘s ‘Radio Star‘, along with talented 1st and 2nd generation singers, Kim Wan Sun and S.E.S‘ Bada.

MC Kyuhyun began by saying, “There are rumors going around that you (Hyorin) walk around naked in the dorm,” and asked the singer if the rumors were true. Hyorin who seemed a bit embarrassed confidently replied, “I walk around the dorm naked, wearing nothing but my undergarments.”

“I can’t sleep with my clothes on, and I’m not the only one that has this habit. Soyu also sleeps naked. When she and I are the only ones at home, the dorm turns into a female bathhouse,” she said, causing the emcees to blush crimson red.

Hyorin was then asked whether she thinks she has a nice body, and she honestly answered, “When I walk past a mirror and see my reflection, I tend to give myself a second glance.”

She added, “Honestly, I think Soyu and I have the nicest bodies in the group.” This prompted the emcees to ask if the other members, Bora and Dasom, acknowledge that they have the best bodies. Hyorin replied, “We actually acknowledge and give compliments to each other very well.”

In addition, Hyorin also spoke up about being nicknamed ‘Hwang Bi Hong (Jet Li as Wong Fei Hung) forehead‘ and shared her honest thoughts regarding her appearance.

SISTAR’s Hyorin proves her forehead isn’t large

On the June 13th episode of MBC‘s ‘Radio Star‘, SISTAR‘s Hyorin revealed, “Although I don’t have a relatively small forehead, I don’t have a Frankenstein-sized forehead either.”

She continued, “My forehead is not that large. I’m going to slick my hair back one day…”

Hyorin revealed her frustration about people giving her the nickname “Hwang Bi Hong (Jet Li as Wong Fei Hung) forehead”. She stated, “There are a lot of stars with bangs, but they only say these things about me. I was so upset, I asked my agency’s director to schedule me an interview [so I can explain].”

The MCs granted Hyorin’s wish to end the rumors, and she explained, “My forehead is not smaller than average. Even though my forehead is a little wide, I keep my bangs mainly to keep a young idol image. If I become prettier, I will pull my hair back.”

SISTAR’s Hyorin confesses she wanted to undergo plastic surgery

SISTAR‘s Hyorin has expressed her previous desire to undergo plastic surgery.

On a recent broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Radio Star‘, the MCs asked Hyorin, “Which part of your face do you want to fix the most?”

Without skipping a beat, Hyorin responded honestly saying, “I want to fix my whole face.”

Hyorin further confessed that she had even attempted to do so in the past, as she continued, “Honestly, prior to my debut, there was a time when I went to three different plastic surgeons with a representative from our company. But they all told us the same thing. They said that because my facial features fit well together now, if I fix one part of it, it will make my face weird and I will have to consequently fix 10 different areas. They told me to be satisfied with the face I have now.”

“I wanted to stand before the public with a pretty face, but our company won’t let us get plastic surgery,” the singer added.

SISTAR’s Hyorin gives her number to Super Junior’s Kyuhyun on ‘Radio Star’

SISTAR‘s Hyorin gave her phone number to program MC and Super Junior member Kyuhyun during the June 13th episode of MBC‘s ‘Radio Star‘.

Hyorin was one of the special guests on the show and Kyuhyun recalled his previous encounter with Hyorin where he asked for her number, as he was trying to put together an after party for the ‘Immortal Song 2‘ contestants.

“Hyorin actually gave me her manager’s number and not hers,” Kyuhyun revealed. Hyorin then tried to explain herself saying, “It was shortly after my debut, and my agency was very concerned. I wanted to go to the after party, but my agency somehow found out about it first and told me not to go.”

Hearing this, the MCs on the show took out a piece of paper and told Hyorin to take this opportunity to give him her real number this time. Despite looking a bit dumbfounded, Hyorin did just that, jotting down her digits for the Super Junior member.

SISTAR’s Bora has difficulty balancing due to her skinny ankles

SISTAR‘s Bora caught the attention of viewers with her skinny ankles.

SISTAR was interviewed for the June 3rd installment of MBC‘s ‘Section TV‘, in which the members shared a few interesting stories and some surprising facts.

An NG clip of the girls during their MV shoot for ‘Alone‘ was revealed, showing member Bora losing her balance during their choreography.

Leader Hyorin pointed out that it was due to Bora’s extremely thin ankles, “Bora’s ankles are very slender. They’re so slender that you can grab it with just one hand like this,” and showed viewers by wrapping her hands around her ankle.

Maknae Dasom then chipped in, “Bora unnie always dances in front of me so whenever I see her slightly losing balance, I get so nervous thinking she might fall.”

Despite it being a challenge for her, Bora stated, “I’m doing my best for my role in the center.”
