TVXQ opens up to ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine about upcoming 10th anniversary

TVXQ‘s Yunho and Changmin shared their thoughts on their upcoming tenth anniversary.

The boys who recently posed for Cosmopolitan magazine remarked that for their tenth anniversary next year, they would like to hold an event for their fans, possibly a special performance where everyone can enjoy themselves both on and off stage.

In regards to setting a new record by surpassing a cumulative total of 3,100,000 sales of their singles in Japan, Changmin remarked, “I think it’s great to be written and talked about in the Japanese market alongside some world-famous artists. I don’t think that we could compare ourselves to them just because we’ve broken a record, but I would like to continue to set new records in the future so that when new artists break our records, TVXQ can continue to be talked about in the years to come.”

The duo also mentioned that they would like to be remembered as a team that always challenged themselves and attempted new things.

BoA chooses TVXQ’s Yunho as person she would take to deserted island

BoA has been receiving attention for her statement regarding TVXQ‘s Yunho.

The singer appeared on August 8th’s airing of 89.1 KBS Cool FM’s ‘Hong Jin Kyung’s 2:00‘ where she discussed performing her new track “Only One” with Yunho, SHINee‘s Taemin, and Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk.

DJ Hong Jin Kyung asked BoA who out of the three would she take with her to a deserted island, and she chose Yunho.

BoA explained her choice, saying that because she is so close to Yunho, he will take initiative and take care of everything without her having to tell him.

She also talked about her song “Only One”, sharing she was inspired by the songs of the young dreamers while she was a judge on ‘K-pop Star‘ and that the experience lead her to try out a new music genre.

Jaejoong and Yunho were both invited to VIP screening of ‘R2B: Return to Base’?

TVXQ‘s Yunho and former TVXQ member Jaejoong are reported to have been invited to the VIP screening of the movie ‘R2B: Return to Base‘ on August 8 KST.

A staff member from the film revealed the list of celebrities who would possibly attend the VIP screening. He stated, “It is a draft composed of the lists given by the actors’ [agencies]. It is not a 100% guarantee that everyone will be present.”

Celebrities who were on the list for the VIP screening included Ha Ji Won, Seo Ji Suk, Kim Ji Won, KARA‘s Hara and Nicole, Girls’ Generation, 4minute, Hong Eun Hee, Go Soo, Yunho, and Jaejoong.

This list has been drawing attention because this would have been Yunho and Jaejoong’s first official public meeting since Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu left TVXQ. Though Many fans have been curious about the meeting, it appears that Yunho did not attend as only photos of Jaejoong have appeared online as of now.

TVXQ has been divided since 2009 with Changmin and Yunho continuing as TVXQ, and Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu forming JYJ.

Korean portal sites Nate & Daum update ‘TVXQ’ profile as 5 members

Rumors of a possible TVXQ reunion began spreading like wildfire once again, after the profiles of former group members Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong were added onto the group’s section of SM Entertainment Japan‘s official website.

Following this change, popular Korean portal sites Naver, Nate, and Daum have also updated their TVXQ profiles.

Daum and Nate have listed all five names under the group ‘TVXQ (Dong Bang Shin Ki)’. Naver has listed Junsu, Yoochun, Jaejoong, and current member Yunho as ‘former’ members of TVXQ, while Changmin is still listed as a member. Whether or not this is an error has not been confirmed.

The updates of these popular portal sites are only causing fans to become more eager to know what these changes mean, however, as of now there is no official word from SM Entertainment nor the members themselves.

After a lawsuit with SM Entertainment, Yunho and Changmin continued to promote as TVXQ, while the other three members have been active under the name JYJ.

Past ‘M! Countdown’ hosts send congratulatory wreaths for the show’s 300th episode

Past MCs of ‘M! Countdown‘ have been gaining attention for the witty congratulatory wreaths they sent in for the celebration of the show’s 300th episode.

To start, M! Countdown’s first generation MC, TVXQ‘s Yunho, sent a wreath with a message saying, “U KNOW? It’s already M! Countdown’s 300th episode!” and proudly signed it, “I am the [show's] first generation MC, U-Know Yunho.”

The members of Super Junior who also hosted the program in the past sent their own humorous wreath using the lyrics to their song, “Sexy, Free & Single“. It read, “Run ’til you’re out of breath, So awesome, M! Countdown’s 300th episode.” The boys then signed it, “I am the pretty great MC, SuJu.”

And CNBLUE‘s Minhyuk who served as an MC back in 2010 sent a wreath and wrote, “Surpass the 300th episode and on to the 3,000th episode, GOGOGO,” and he signed his with, “Minhyuk who rolled in unexpectedly♥,” using the title of drama ‘You Who Rolled in Unexpectedly‘ where he is currently playing the role of Kim Nam Joo‘s younger brother Cha Sae Kwang.

Meanwhile, the artists who performed on the 300th episode special of ‘M! Countdown’ included BoA, Super Junior, B2ST,  Wooyoung, SISTAR, A Pink, Jang Jae In, Shin Yong Jae, Muzie, Juniel, B.A.P, Rhythm Power, A-JAX, D Unit, and Park Moo Jin.

The #1 K-Chart win on the 300th episode special ultimately went to B2ST. You can watch the performances here.

TVXQ’s Yunho chosen as the hallyu idol with the best Japanese skills

With so many idols going overseas to promote in Japan, a survey was held in which 37 Japanese instructors were asked to pick the hallyu idol with the best command of the Japanese language. The survey took place over the course of a month, and the results were finally revealed on July 2nd.

In first place was TVXQ‘s Yunho who received 43% of the votes with his natural Japanese speaking skills. The reason why Yunho was chosen was because he is able to carry on fluent conversation, and is also capable of using various slangs and the modern speaking style of the young Japanese generation.

BoA and Girls Generation‘s Sooyoung came in 2nd place as they received 26% of the total votes. BoA is already known for her fluent Japanese speaking skills especially since she has long pursued her career in Japan. However, because she has more of an “artist” image than an “idol”, she was picked by less Japanese language instructors for this hallyu idol poll, thus coming in second. Meanwhile, Sooyoung also placed 2nd with her clean and accurate Japanese accent and her ability to use proper tone when speaking.

The survey also reviewed and rated the skills of other up and coming hallyu stars like Jang Geun Suk.

With Jang Geun Suk‘s appearance on a variety show in Japan without a translator gaining attention, they said, “He’s not proficient in long conversations in Japanese but he does have a good command of the Japanese that is used in Japan.” They also said, “He has a calm, low-tone and uses phrases that the young Japanese generation uses.”

The instructors also commented on KARA when they said, “Their ability to express themselves is still lacking, but they have that unique cuteness that girl groups have. Even with their word choices, they use cuter words than other hallyu stars.”

TVXQ’s Yunho and Park Soo Jin spotted attending a musical together

Recently, the cameras of Sports Seoul caught longtime friends TVXQ‘s Yunho and actress Park Soo Jin attending the musical of a mutual friend together.

As fellow ’85 Club’ friends, the two have been friends since their pre-debut days for ten long years. The two headed out to Kangbuk to see the musical of Yunho’s close friend Kang Dong Ho, who’s currently playing the lead in ‘Searching for Kim Jong Wook‘. Yunho and Kang Dong Ho met through their 2010 musical ‘Goong‘ and have maintained their friendship ever since.

Before the musical was about to start, cameras spotted Yunho and Park Soo Jin getting out of the same white van together. As they’re already well known for being close friends, no one thought twice about them attending the musical together.

Yunho picked up the tickets for Park Soo Jin and himself and the two headed in to find their seats. The audience briefly murmured upon their arrival but quieted down once the lights shut off, signaling that the show was about to start.

The musical itself was a hit with the crowd, as Kang Dong Ho put on a special ‘adlib dance’ mid-performance for Yunho. Yunho cheered him on proudly, not giving a care for his Hallyu star image.

After the musical, the two slipped out through the emergency exit.

Yunho, Lee Yeon Hee, and Go Ara reveal BoA’s drinking habits

Labelmates and best friends, TVXQ‘s Yunho, Lee Yeon Hee, and Go Ara dished on some of BoA‘s drinking habits on the June 5th episode of KBS‘s ‘Win Win‘.

The three appeared as surprise guests on the show and came armed with secrets regarding BoA’s drinking habits. Yunho revealed, “She has a certain way she acts when she gets drunk. First, she gets cute. She’ll give you half moon eyes and laugh in the particular way that she does. She’ll even hit the person next to her. She has a lot of aegyo.”

When asked how clearly she speaks when drunk, Lee Yeon Hee replied, “She doesn’t mispronounce or slur her speech, but she will start talking like a baby.”

Right on the spot, BoA demonstrated for viewers by saying in an aegyo tone, “I want to drink~ more~.”

Go Ara also revealed, “When I was filming the movie ‘Papa‘, I had a lot of English lines so I asked BoA unni for advice and met up with her. She just start speaking in English with me nonstop so I thought to myself that she was doing it so I could get used to it fast. I later realized that she has a tendency to speak in English when drunk.”

Lee Yeon Hee added with a laugh, “She does that because at least you can understand her, but she knows I can’t so she doesn’t even try.”

B2ST’s Lee Ki Kwang can’t take his eyes off of Lee Yeon Hee

B2ST‘s Lee Ki Kwang has fallen head over heels for actress Lee Yeon Hee!

Actress Lee Yeon Hee made a surprise appearance on the June 5th broadcast of KBS‘s ‘Win Win‘ along with labelmates TVXQ‘s Yunho and Go Ara for the special episode on BoA.

Upon Lee Yeon Hee’s surprise entrance on the talk show, Lee Ki Kwang was unable to hide his smile as he shouted with joy. This prompted fellow host member Kim Seung Woo to question the singer, “If you have something you want to say to Lee Yeon Hee, go ahead.”

To this, Lee Ki Kwang confessed his love for her by saying, “There’s no need for words. You’re very beautiful.” He then gave her a thumbs up and said, “You’re the best.”

’1st Look’ reveals B-Cut photos of SM’s Yunho, Leeteuk, Seohyun, and Krystal

Earlier in the month, ‘1st Look‘ magazine revealed a special pictorial featuring TVXQ‘s Yunho, Super Junior‘s Leeteuk, Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun, and f(x)‘s Krystal for SM Entertainment‘s new film, ‘I AM‘.

The staff at ’1st Look’ had to cut out some of the photos from the final pictorial but as a special treat for fans they decided to release some of the cut photos to the public. Their official Twitter account recently tweeted, “We’re revealing the ‘I AM’ B cuts that didn’t make the final selection! Check out the close up cuts of Seohyun and Krystal’s unedited figures as well as the statuesque Leeteuk and U-Know Yunho.”

TVXQ’s Changmin developed a victim mentality after debuting in the industry

TVXQ‘s Changmin shared that he developed a ‘victim mentality’ after working in the entertainment industry.

On the May 10th episode of MBC‘s ‘Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Concert‘, Changmin opened up about his introverted personality.

“In a group, there are members that are very outgoing and well-spoken, while other members may not say much and be very reserved,” Changmin began to say.

“Relatively, I don’t speak much so I may come across as being less than enthusiastic,” he continued. “I also thought that people paid less attention to me because I was a man of such few words, and I developed a victim mentality.”

Super Junior‘s Leeteuk then displayed his wit by responding, “Yunho just needs to talk less,” and Changmin added, “I hope that quiet people like me can continue to live bright and cheerful lives without being stressed out.”

Changmin’s fellow TVXQ member Yunho then determinedly remarked, “I will make sure to speak less,” causing everyone to explode into laughs.

TVXQ’s Yunho likes to wear a helmet to the movies?

TVXQ‘s Yunho admitted that he enjoys hobbies that are a bit out of the ordinary.

Yunho was featured on the May 10th broadcast of MBC ‘Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Concert‘ along with fellow TVXQ member Changmin, Super Junior‘s Leeteuk and Eunhyuk, and Girls’ Generation‘s Tiffany and Seohyun.

“I like to travel. Please give me some destination ideas,” he said. “My friends and I like to wear school uniforms when we go out, or wear motorcycle helmets to the movie theaters,” he added, revealing his intriguing hobbies.

Yunho then shared a few of his traveling experiences, while Super Junior and Girls’ Generation shared a few of their concerns.

Eunhyuk, Leeteuk, and Yunho reveal each other’s secrets

On the May 3rd broadcast of ‘Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Concert‘, a line of top celebrities were featured including: TVXQ‘s Changmin and Yunho, Super Junior‘s Leeteuk and Eunhyuk, and Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun and Tiffany.

Having been under the same label company for years, these idols are well aware of each other’s secrets.  During the broadcast, the members finally relieved their itchy mouths and revealed the secrets of one another.

Before the recording officially started, Leeteuk intimidated TVXQ as he said, “I’m going to start popping out secrets, so please understand even if you find it offensive.”

As soon as the talks started, everyone joined in on the battle.  First Eunhyuk asked Tiffany, “Are you getting prettier by the day because you are in love with me?  Tell me the reason, why you are becoming prettier.”

Tiffany responded back with a logical answer as she stated, “It’s due to continuous maintenance“. As if he had been eagerly awaiting his chance, Leeteuk quickly jumped in, revealing, “Eunhyuk used to have a terrible foot odor.  It was so bad that even his foot shape would get imprinted on the floor due to the fumes.  However, the odor is gone due to his continuous foot maintenance.”

Eunhyuk then went on to tease fellow label mate, TVXQ.  He asserted, “There are rumors that Yunho serves and obeys Changmin.  Is it true that you carefully observe Changmin’s mood and receive a lot of nagging from him?”

Yunho honestly replied, “Yes it’s true.  One time, I went inside our dorm with my shoes on.  I instantly received a text message that read, ‘Hyung, that isn’t right’ from Changmin.  At that moment, I had so many thoughts go through my mind, and instantly changed my ways.”

TVXQ’s Yunho reveals that his childhood dream was to become a prosecutor

On the May 3rd episode of MBC‘s ‘Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Concert‘, TVXQ‘s Yunho confessed that his childhood dream career was to be a prosecutor.

The episode is a special one fans won’t want to miss as it features SM Entertainment labelmates as special guests, including TVXQ’s Yunho and Changmin, Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk and Leeteuk, and Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun and Tiffany.

The six guests were asked to share something positive about themselves, and Yunho introduced himself by stating, “I’m TVXQ’s charisma, U-Know Yunho.”

When asked about his childhood dream, he revealed, “My dream was actually to become a prosecutor. I think it was because I had a relative who was also a lawyer. That’s why when I first debuted as a singer, my family was opposed to it.”

Eunhyuk and Leeteuk chimed in to comment, “I really don’t think prosecutor is a career for you!”

Super Junior’s Leeteuk considers Kang Ho Dong to be his life mentor

Super Junior‘s Leeteuk selected MC Kang Ho Dong as his life mentor.

TVXQ‘s Changmin and Yunho, as well as Super Junior’s Lee Teuk and Eunhyuk, and Girls’ Generation members Seohyun and Tiffany guest-featured on the ‘SM’ special of MBC TV‘s ‘Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Show‘.

“Someone once told me that you need to learn how to take a blow. Only then would you be able to survive in this society. That person is none other than Kang Ho Dong,” Leeteuk said.

Lee Teuk has in the past worked with Kang Ho Dong on variety programs such as SBS TV ‘Strong Heart‘.

“Kang Ho Dong is like a mentor to me,” Leeteuk continued. “But I can’t bring myself to contact him too often. It’s like when you were younger and it’s hard to reach out to your teachers.”

“Not too long ago, I finally decided to call him and I said, ‘I worked up the courage to call you,’ and he responded, ‘I miss you, I love you, my dongseng’.”

Hopefully, the two will be able to reunite on television soon.

TVXQ’s Yunho admits to being the romantic type

Underneath that tough exterior, TVXQ‘s Yunho has a soft and romantic side.

On the May 3rd episode of MBC TV‘s ‘Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Show‘, Yunho was asked what kind of dosirak (Lunch box) he would like to receive.

“Different from what I may look like, I like romantic things,” Yunho answered. MC Joo Byung Jin then responded, “What are you talking about, you look plenty romantic,” causing Yunho to become embarrassed.

“I like when they write my name with beans, or make out my face with strawberries,” Yunho continued.

On the flip side, fellow TVXQ member Changmin remarked, “I’m an extreme realist. I don’t care what it looks like, as long as it tastes good,” evoking laughter from the other guests.

SM’s Yunho, Leeteuk, Seohyun, and Krystal model for ’1st Look’

For ‘1st Look‘ magazine, SM Entertainment labelmates got together for a special pictorial in time for the release of their new film, ‘I AM‘.

Each pictorial also features an in-depth interview with the stars, where TVXQ‘s Yunho in particular reveals his goals on how he wants to be remembered. He revealed, “I like resting, but I’m happier when I’m singing. Like my idol, Michael Jackson, I want to become a singer that is remembered forever, someone that can be a mentor for others.”

Super Junior‘s Leeteuk, who combined both masculine and chic looks for his style profile, expressed, “Behind the glitz and glam of the career of a celebrity lies a normal, Korean man, who is hungry for love and success.”

Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun took the breath away of staff on set with her feminine yet powerful look. In her interview, she expressed, “My trainee days were fun and something to cherish because I made a lot of memories with my labelmate friends and unnis, memories that I wouldn’t be able to make at school. I’m both amazed and kind of shy that my trainee days will be revealed through ‘I AM’, but I think it will also be fun to share these with everyone.”

f(x)‘s Krystal showed off her own fashionable looks with a modern twist while also talking about her role in ‘High Kick 3‘, stating, “There are a lot of people that regard me as the same as my character, Ahn Soo Jung. I’m not like that, though. I may look cold on the outside, but I’m different once you get to know me. I’m just really shy.”

Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany explains why she doesn’t like being called by her Korean name

Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany, whose Korean name is Hwang Miyoung, confessed that she has a rather strong dislike to people addressing her by her Korean name.

The singer made the confession on the latest episode of MBC‘s ’Joo Byung Jin’s Talk Concert‘. The episode featured members of TVXQ, Super Junior, and Girls’ Generation.

The show started off with a quick introduction from each of the members, starting first with TVXQ’s Yunho. During Tiffany’s introduction, Leeteuk suddenly asked her why she didn’t like being called by her “real” name. Tiffany then answered that her friends would often “tease her because of her name,” and that they called her “Hwang Miyuk” (“miyuk” in Korean means seaweed), which caused the guests to laugh.

“They went as far as making a rap song titled Hwang Miyuck,” continued Tiffany, “They would sing it every time they saw me!”

Other highlights from the episode include Eunhyunk’s breaking of his long-running status as a non-drinker of 27 years, Changmin’s choice of the “member he’d get along with the least” should he have debuted under Super Junior, and Seohyun’s own ranking of the men of SM Entertainment from hottest to least hottest.

This episode of Joo Buyng Jin’s Talk Concert will air on May 3rd.

TVXQ member Yunho’s father writes a personal thank you letter to the fans

TVXQ Yunho‘s father recently wrote a letter to Yunho’s fans, after they built a library in China in his son’s name.

The screen capture below recently surfaced on an online community site with the title, ‘A letter written by Yunho’s father on Yunho’s Chinese fan site (My Yunho).’

His father wrote,

Building a Yunho Library in China is a truly meaningful act. I just want to let you all know that the love and efforts of the fans and members brought Yunho extreme joy. Thank you to all the fans who continue to show unconditional love and support for TVXQ who don’t promote very often. Yunho will continue to aim for new heights, just as he was determined to do since the very beginning. Yunho will be able to continue spreading the love and draw bigger dreams, thanks to all the fans who have placed their loyal faith in Yunho. It was so good to hear the delightful news. I will pray that everyone will continue to be healthy, and be able to fulfill each one of their hopes and desires.”

Fans who read his letter remarked, “I’m so touched!”, as well as “Like father, like son. Both possess such warm hearts,” and “Yunho’s father sent a letter to fans? That’s amazing.”
