B2ST holds a surprise fan meeting with 2,200 B2UTY’s

B2ST concluded their first week of promotions with a surprise fan meeting with 2,200 fans.

On the 27th, B2ST held a guerilla performance at Gwanghwamun Square for 4,000 fans and was widely complimented for their live performance skills and full stage after the recording of the show was aired.

Also, after their comeback stage at SBS‘s Inkigayo was aired on the 29th, the ‘MR Removed Live video’ also became a big topic. Even with restless choreography, their live was strong and firm, proving their skills once again.

On the day of the comeback stage, the fans waited since the early morning and B2ST, upon seeing this, forgot about their preparations for the stage and were worried about the fans in the heat.

After the show at a park near the SBS Hall, the members had a pleasant time meeting with 2,200 of their fans who cheered for their comeback even in the hot weather.

They also showed their gratitude with a aegyo speech to their fans who rooted for them with unwavering support even after a year and 2 month break.

Meanwhile, B2ST has attracted attention after it was revealed that they have a history of holding a fan meeting after their official Inkigayo performance since their first one after the debut in 2009.

Even though they had many fans before their debut, B2ST‘s first mini fan meeting started off with meager attendance of 300. However, with their special love for their fans, the number increased to over 1500 by the time of their “Fiction” comeback. Even in this fan meeting, the picture of B2ST with 2200 B2UTY’s (B2ST‘s fan club) confirmed the reciprocal love between them even in the scorching weather.

B2ST is planning on embroidering the summer night with their song, “It’s a Beautiful Night” and show the essence of B2ST‘s stage.

Yoon Doojoon shares his thoughts on wrapping up BEAST’s Japanese Tour

BEAST‘s leader Yoon Doojoon shared some thoughts ahead of the group’s last performance in Japan.

On March 27th, the singer wrote a post titled ‘Ay-yo‘ on his official fan cafe.

We only have one performance left in Japan,” he began. “It’s so exhausting. While putting on five performances back to back, there are an infinite number of thoughts that ran through my head, and a lot of things also occurred during that time.”

My throat that seemed just fine during two days of performances in Seoul is becoming more hoarse with time, and my knee that seemed like it would be okay is starting to become really painful. I was so exhausted that after Yoseob & Junhyung‘s ‘Thanks to’ performance, I went backstage with Dongwoon and complained about how exhausted he was. Our manager hyung then told us about something he read in ‘Mister Sushi King’. ‘There may be 100 different sushi pieces to a chef, but to a customer, there is only the one in front of them.’ Hearing that, Dongwoon and I who are devoted readers of ‘Mister Sushi King’ then got our act back together.”

There are a few fans that come see us perform so often that we remember their faces,” he continued. “These people may see us and be understanding that we aren’t feeling our best that day, but the fans who are seeing us for the first time will remember us in that image / moment forever. I reflected back on myself and wondered if I have been always giving my 100% singing and dancing on stage. I asked myself if there were any performances where I didn’t try hard enough. And being human, I realized that I hadn’t always given my all or my best. I am reflecting on these actions, and I promise you- BEAST has many more performances to put on in the future than the number of performances we’ve put on until now, so we will always do our very best.”

He added, “It’s already been 3 years since we debuted. After BEAST came A-Pink and BtoB. Watching music programs, I realize that we have more junior artists than seniors now. I have become 24 years old and my body isn’t the way it used to be in high school. As I grow older, I realize how precious each and every single day really is. I am so glad I am able to sing and dance in front of so many people, and grateful that I’m living a unique life where others are envious of what I do.”

BEAST kicked off their Japan tour by performing in front of 23,000 Japanese fans at the Yokohama Arena back on March 21st & 22nd, and wrapped up their final Japanese performance in Nagoya on the 27th.

BEAST’s Yoseob and A Pink’s Eunji spotted together

What’s going on between BEAST‘s Yoseob and A Pink‘s Eunji?

Earlier today, A Pink‘s agency A-Cube tweeted the above picture of two artists hanging out together. The picture is causing quite the stir among fans, as it features two famous idols looking friendly with Yoseob looking at her with a gentle expression on his face.

But not to worry, for those BEAST and A Pink fans out there! It seems like the two have gotten together to work on perhaps an upcoming collaboration, for the two groups have a history working with each other. BEAST’s agency, Cube Entertainment, and A Pink‘s A-Cube agency have a very close relationship, and the two idol groups worked together on CFs as well as performances on stage. In fact, some of the A Pink members have spent their trainee days at Cube Entertainment.

With all that said, it seems like the picture will bring a lot of attention to the two idols and whatever they’re working on together.

Oricon’s CEO discusses SNSD, BEAST, T-ara, & K-pop

CEO Koike Koh of the Oricon Corporation experienced something completely new on February 22nd. At the first ever Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards that took place in Seoul that night, Koike himself stepped onto the red carpet. How did it feel to be in front of 150 reporters and a combined number of 300 Korean & Japanese fans?

It was the first time in my life I felt like that,” he said.”I said to myself,So this is what it feels like for the stars who step out on the red carpet.’ I was also surprised at the loud cheers of the Korean fans.”

Oricon is the holding company at the head of a Japanese corporate group that supplies statistics and information on music and the music industry in Japan. The Oricon chart is a respectable and reliable source, and can be compared to the UK Chart in England, as well as the US Billboard.

Launched in 1968, the Oricon also served as the model when the format for the Korean Gaon Chart was created.

As someone who has closely observed the influence of K-pop grow over the years, CEO Koike sat down for an interview, and discussed what he sees as the charm of the fast growing world of K-pop, as well as the philosophy behind the well-respected Oricon chart.

Q. At the Gaon K-pop awards, you presented Girls’ Generation with the ‘Oricon Special Award’. What do you think is the secret to Girls’ Generation’s success in Japan?

A. Girls’ Generation debuted in Japan with their showcase at the Tokyo Ariake Colosseum. Although it was just a mini live performance for the fans who had purchased their CD, I was very surprised at how intensely young Japanese women responded to Girls’ Generation. None of other industry professionals, nor I, had ever imagined that young women could respond to a girl group like that. The marketing strategy of SM Entertainment and Universal Japan that targeted young female fans, was very effective.

Q. Between Taeyeon, who was the MC of the ceremony, and YoonA, who was the award presenter, do you like more?

A. For me, it would be YoonA (laughs). However, all nine members possess the talent and looks. It’s something I had felt before at their mini live performance, but I once again asked myself, ‘How were they able to bring together members like these into one group?’ It’s very surprising. In Japan, it would be no easy task bringing together nine people like them. To be honest, I met Lee Soo Man of SM Entertainment in Japan two years ago and pondered, ‘How much of this would become reality?’ as he explained to me about the concept of Girls’ Generation. It seems that dream has been achieved now.

Q. Besides Korean artists who are already well known in Japan like Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, KARA, and BoA, are there any artists or groups that you are anticipating?

A. I was so surprised at last night’s ceremony. It seems artists possessing a variety of talents are being born endlessly in Korea. I was able to feel the depth of K-pop. Specifically, I saw BEAST‘s live performance for the first time yesterday, and felt that their performance level was very high. It was very memorable how the members used [every part of their body] down to the tips of their fingers to express themselves. T-ara‘s visual concept and techno pop dance tracks were unique. I believe that T-ara will continue to gain much popularity in Japan.

Q. Japan’s representative girl group is AKB48. What is something that AKB48 possesses that Korean girl groups do not?

A. Even during their debut period, they were still amateurs. However, Japan has a unique culture in that we enjoy watching idols grow and improve [with time]. I’m referring to the enjoyment of watching each member’s dance or vocal skills, or visuals improve gradually. Also fans [in Japan] hold an election once a year, in which they participate in determining the  next activities of the artists. Through this kind of process, the amount of fans grow as well. AKB48′s producer explained that the beginning concept was ‘an idol you feel as if you can meet up with anytime’. Even now, if you buy seven of their CDs, you can shake hands and talk with the girls for 10 seconds.

Q. Oricon Chart is one that is respected and reported about almost daily by the Korean media. It is one that lives up to the name it stands for (‘Original Confidence’). What is the secret?

A. ‘Oricon’ has one more meaning, which is ‘Consumer Oriented’. It means to look at things from the consumer’s perspective, and help them see things that they weren’t able to before. ‘Accurately investigating into the overflooding and distortion of information to provide reliable data’ – this is Oricon’s philosophy.

BEAST spotted looking like average college students in Apgujeong

The BEAST members were caught having lunch outside a restaurant in Seoul. Different from their charismatic personas on stage, BEAST looked like your average Korean college students. They each displayed a different taste in fashion and they looked easygoing and carefree during their outing.

It was earlier in the month, around February 6th when the six boys were walking out of a noodle restaurant in Apgujeong, one after the other. Their rowdy, clamorous behavior caused a Dispatch reporter to look over again, and realize it was none other than BEAST.

Maybe it was due to a satisfying hot meal, but the boys looked happy upon walking out. Yoon Doojoon had a piece of candy in his mouth, and Kikwang was tapping his distended stomach.

It was like watching an episode of a sitcom, especially seeing the way the boys joked with one another. They all walked out of the restaurant and immediately became engrossed in their conversation. The boys always faced one another when holding a conversation, and burst into laughter throughout their discussion. It was obvious that the boys were extremely close off camera as well.

They did not concern themselves with being seen in public, but like the gentlemen they are, they politely greeted the fans that recognized who they were. Undoubtedly one of the reasons why the fans love BEAST.

Their everyday looks were extremely casual. Though they were all dressed in simple shirts, jeans, and jackets, each member had his own style and this was obvious upon first glance.

The two that especially stood out were Doojoon and Kikwang who both wore matching wool hats to give their ‘formal’ outfit a more casual touch.

The boys are busy with their World Tour, most recently holding a show in Germany. Word has it that they are also working on their next album.  Anxious fans are ready to see them on stage again.

Fathers of B2ST members to dance to “Fiction” on ‘Win Win’

Idol group BEAST recently participated in filming for the February 21st episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Win Win‘ and the boys were accompanied by their fathers.

This was the first time the boys were the only celebrity guests on a talk show performance, and therefore were able to openly talk about the difficult things they went through since their debut.

BEAST debuted in 2009, and the six-member idol group is celebrating their 3rd year anniversary in October.

The boys won the ‘Song of the Year‘ award at KBS Music Festival last year, and not only are they one of the leading boy groups in the nation, they have made their breakthrough in other parts of Asia as well as overseas in Europe.

But each of the members were released from other agencies before forming ‘BEAST’ at Cube Entertainment, and have been referred to as the ‘recycled group’. They talked about how much this title had hurt them, and what it took for them to become one of the greatest idol groups in Korea.

All 6 of the members’ fathers also guest-featured on the program, showcasing their hidden dance moves by performing the boys’ hit song “Fiction“. The fathers also shared some stories about their sons, offering both laughs and tears to the audience.

2AM‘s Jo Kwon who is known to be close friends with the members also served as a one-time MC for the episode.

The ‘BEAST’ episode of ‘Win Win’ airs on February 21st.
