YG Global Audition Reminder!







YG Entertainment, famous for producing and housing many of Korea’s top stars, such as Se7enBig Bang2NE1PSYTablo, and Gummy, is looking to expand their ‘YG Family‘ with their latest 2012 ‘YG Global Audition‘.


For this year, the agency will be holding auditions all over the globe including United Kingdom, Germany, United States, Canada, and Japan.


After Europe is North America, and deadlines are fast approaching! Application deadline for North America is June 27th, 2012 (Wednesday) and you can send the application to usacanada@ygmail.net.


So what are you waiting for, will you be the newest addition to the YG Family?

Lee Hyori’s kill-heels are as tall as one stairstep?





Singer Lee Hyori‘s kill-heels have been gaining attention from netizens.


On the May 20th broadcast of SBS‘s ‘You & I‘, Jung Jae Hyung was shocked after seeing Lee Hyori’s pair of kill-heels.


Jung Jae Hyung stated, “I brought a ruler. I don’t think my shoe insoles could ever be bigger…” After measuring her heels with the ruler, the MC also added, “The heels are 20cm. That’s like standing on one stairstep.


Lee Hyori then wittily asked the audience, “Don’t you think guys who measure a woman’s heels are unattractive?


On this episode, Bobby Kim and Gummy were featured as guests.

Big Bang’s T.O.P to feature in label mate Gummy’s Japanese MV





Big Bang‘s T.O.P will feature in the music video of his label mate and senior, Gummy.


Director Lee Jae Han shared the photos below on his Twitter page on May 15th and wrote, “T.O.P who made an appearance in Gummy’s Japanese debut album MV… In Tokyo, with T.O.P.”


T.O.P and director Lee Jae Han have previously worked together for the film ‘Into the Fire‘, and T.O.P was awarded the ‘Best Rookie Actor Award’ for his role as a student soldier in the movie.


Love how T.O.P supports Gummy,” fans wrote in response to the photos, along with “So excited to see the finished product!”"

Gummy’s mom debuted as a singer in 2010





Information regarding Gummy‘s mother has resurfaced. In the recent episode of SBS‘s “Strong Heart“, Gummy revealed, “My mom, who dreamed of being a singer since she was young, made her debut as a singer in 2010.


She continued, “YG Entertainment‘s CEO Yang [Hyun Suk] gave my mom the nickname ‘King Gummy’ (“gummy” means spider in Korean). My mom is so talented that even Jang Yoon Jung approved of my mom’s singing skills.


In addition, Gummy shared a story about how she had to give up piano due to her family’s financial problems, and how her mother originally gave up her dreams of becoming a singer for Gummy.


This “YG Family Special” aired on April 3rd starring members of the YG Family including Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, PSY, Tablo, Sean, and Gummy.

Gummy thanks her fans for the yummy gifts







Last week, we reported that Gummy won first place on MBC’s ‘I Am a Singer‘, which featured a guest performance from fellow YG labelmate, T.O.P.

On December 21st, Gummy shared photos of gifts received from fans, attached to a grateful message on her me2day. She wrote, “These are the gifts from my thankful fans~ I’m a person who is loved. For my fans, I have to become #1 again!! Thank you so, so much. Fans, I love you~~~

In her first shot, Gummy posed with a giant cookie, while the second shot was a close-up of her fruit basket. The congratulatory message on the ribbons read: “The living (one of a kind) top tier voice, Gummy! Until you become #1 again~!! I Am a Singer’s youngest member Gummy & (manager) Shin Young Fighting!”

Gummy is gaining nationwide prominence thanks to her strong performances on the popular singing elimination program, ‘I Am a Singer’.

Big Bang’s T.O.P to make a special appearance on ‘I Am A Singer’

Big Bang‘s charismatic rapper, T.O.P, will be making an appearance on ‘I Am A Singer’.

On December 5th, T.O.P was seen on the recording of the legendary SanUllim special to cheer on fellow labelmate, Gummy.
<form>According to those who observed the recording, T.O.P made a special featuring on Gummy’s cover of SanUllim’s <strong>“Rascal”</strong>. <br />
A source revealed to Star News“While showcasing her distinct style during her rendition of ‘Rascal’, T.O.P made a surprise appearance – heating up the atmosphere of the show… The lively rhythm and the cooperation between the two gained much cheer and applause from the audience.”

Gummy had performed “Rascal” earlier in the mid-examination in front of Kim Chang Wan(SanUllim’s vocalist), and earned praises from him such as “You have completely understood the original song. It felt more free than the SanUllim’s original.”

Gummy: “YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk told me I was unappealing”

Solo YG Entertainment artist Gummy shared her thoughts on joining MBC‘s ‘I Am a Singer‘.

During her interview that took place before the November 6th airing of the program, the singer remarked, “When I first saw the program, I was overcome with shock. The fact that it was a competition amongst professional singers was simply shocking. I wondered if I had the talent or even the right to be on such a program, but I decided to join because it would be an honor to even be amongst these talented legends.”

I want to slowly earn the respect of our viewers and show them everything I have. You’re going to regret it if you vote me off the show,” she joked.

Gummy also revealed how she became a member of the YG Entertainment family.

She admitted, “CEO Yang Hyun Suk told me that I was a good singer but I had no unique appeal and didn’t like me… That’s what he said to me at least, but turns out he was singing my praises to everyone else behind the scenes.”

She also shared, “I really wanted to do music when I was younger, but I never had a piano.”

Gummy sang Lee Sora‘s “I am Happy” on the episode of ‘I Am a Singer’ that aired on the 6th.

Gummy to come back in November with a new album




It’s just been revealed that Gummy will be making a return to the music scene with a brand-new album in November!

“Gummy is scheduled for a November comeback,” said an industry insider. “She is currently in the stage of finishing up her album.”

This new album will be her first non-OST effort in more than a year, following her “Love Recipe” release from 2010. According to the insider, her new album received the help of Choi Kap Won, who also worked with IU for her hit albums.

The album will be filled with quality songs that bring out her unique, soulful voice; the music video was filmed in Japan following the album recording.

Along with her new album, Gummy is slated to participate in MBC‘s survival reality program, ‘I Am a Singer‘.

Gummy to join ‘I Am a Singer’




With the elimination of singer Jo Kyu Chan on the latest episode of MBC‘s ‘I Am a Singer‘, soloist Gummy was named as the next singer to join the show.

Gummy joined a recent recording for the show at the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan on October 24th. Gummy debuted back in 2003 and has several hit tracks on her record like “Pain” and “Amnesia”; she’s also been focusing on her Japanese advancement with “Sorry“. Her impressive and powerful vocal talent is sure to fit right in with the rest of the prestigious cast in the show.

The episode featuring Gummy’s first appearance will air on November 6th.
