‘Birth of A Great Star 3′ judges confirmed

The season 3 judges of MBC‘s ’Birth of A Great Star‘ have been confirmed! Boohwal‘s Kim Tae Won, singer Kim Yeon Woo, producer Brave Brothers, and musical actress Kim So Hyun will be the mentors to help find K-pop’s next talented musicians.

A ‘Birth of A Great Star’ representative revealed, “Out of the four judges, Kim Tae Won was the first to be confirmed. We anticipate Kim Tae Won to touch the hearts of viewers this upcoming season just like he did during season one.” To recap, Kim Tae Won’s mentees all made it into the Top 5 during the first season and were widely recognized as the “Alien Baseball Team”. Kim Tae Won commented on his thoughts about becoming a judge for the second time around saying, “I will use all my strength to find new talented individuals. I’m looking forward to the rise of a second ‘Alien Baseball Team’.”

Hit producer Brave Brothers is also confirmed as the second producer turned judge following producer Bang Shi Hyuk, who sat as a judge during season one. Brave Brothers is expected to add an interesting element to the program with his “sharp tongue” and honest opinions. Singer Kim Yeon Woo who previously made a guest appearances on the audition program was also selected for his teaching background as a professor at Seoul Art College. He’s also a vocal trainer for artists like Big Mama, SG Wannabe, Brown Eyed Girls, and Lim Jeong Hee.

Musical actress Kim So Hyun attended the prestigious Seoul National University, specializing in vocal music as well as recently releasing an album among her various musical pursuits. A representative revealed, “We expect Kim So Hyun to use her solid musical foundation to accurately teach her mentees.”

‘Birth of A Great Star 3′ is currently holding global auditions in South Korea as well as Australia, Canada, Los Angeles, and New York. The first broadcast will air on October 19 KST.

‘Birth of a Great Star’ finalist David Oh revealed to be preparing for his debut

It has been revealed that MBC‘s ‘Birth of A Great Star‘ Season 1 finalist David Oh will finally be making his official debut.

According to Big Hit Entertainment, David Oh will be traveling back to the States on the 29th to work on his debut album. During his temporary stay in the States, David Oh will be preparing for his debut by producing and writing the lyrics for his own songs in the coming months.

David Oh plans to use the inspiration that he receives from his trip to Los Angeles, Memphis, and New York, to write his songs.

The upcoming rookie successfully made it to the Top 5 of the first season of ‘Birth of A Great Star’ and with the help of his mentor and producer Bang Shi Hyuk, he will make his official debut.

‘Birth Of A Great Star 2′ contestant Goo Ja Myung signs with Boohwal Entertainment

Goo Ja Myung, winner of MBC‘s ‘Birth of a Great Star 2‘ has decided to join the label of his mentor, Kim Tae Won.

Boohwal Entertainment informed OSEN on July 31st,, “We signed Goo Ja Myung after hearing that he was interested in band music.”

They also added, “We also heard that Lee Sun Hee recommended Goo Ja Myung to one of our associates.”

In regards to Goo Ja Myung’s debut, the agency remarked, “Goo Ja Myung likes band music, but he will most likely debut as a soloist. But if given the opportunity, he will also showcase his band music talents.”

Meanwhile, Goo Ja Myung is a former soccer player who dreamt of one day playing in the World Cup. But after being injured, he changed his life path and decided to try and become a singer.

‘Birth of a Great Star’s Eric Nam clears up misunderstandings about turning down audition invitation from JYPE

‘Birth of a Great Star‘ contestant Eric Nam took some time to clarify the recent news about him turning down an audition invitation offer from JYP Entertainment.

As mentioned previously, Eric had been contacted by JYP Entertainment, who had asked him to come audition at the New York auditions after seeing his YouTube videos. However, with school exams in the way, Eric had declined the invitation.

However, some misunderstood his statements thinking that he had refused the audition invitation from JYPE because he had something against the agency. Thus, Eric decided to clear up the misunderstanding through his me2day. On June 20th, Eric posted, “Hello. I think there were some misunderstandings regarding the ‘JYP rejection’ article. I was offered to attend the audition before ‘Birth of a Great Star 2′, but unfortunately because of conflicts with school, I wasn’t able to attend. To clarify, it wasn’t a ‘rejection’, it was more like ‘giving up’.”

He also added, “At the time it was very unfortunate, but I was able to meet everyone through ‘Birth of a Great Star 2′, so say ‘NO’ to misunderstandings! I love JYP ^^.”

Eric Nam, a contestant from ‘Birth of a Great Star 2‘, disclosed that he had once declined an offer from JYP Entertainment.

During an interview, Eric Nam stated, “A representative from JYP called me first after watching a YouTube video of me singing. They suggested that I should go to a JYP audition in New York.”

He continued, “It was during college exam time so I couldn’t go. During my first year of college, I had to focus on my studies, so I declined the offer to audition in New York.” Eric Nam then added, “But it’s not like I have any regrets.”

GLAM members enjoy their freedom on the streets with couple of beers

Upcoming girl group GLAM has been receiving attention for their latest episode of their reality show.

The broadcast of SBS-MTV‘s ‘Real Music Drama GLAM‘ on the 13th showed GLAM’s freedom from dorm rules unlike other girl groups.

The GLAM members were seeing enjoying their freedom out in the streets with couple of beers, which is an act that is normally unseen on screen for girl group members.

GLAM is an upcoming girl group that includes Lee Miso, who auditioned for KBS ‘Birth of a Great Star‘. The group is produced by Bang Shi Hyuk, who has gone against expectations by not enforcing strict dorm rules nor setting curfews for the members.

He shared, “When they themselves are being regulated, it contradicts their message to the public to listen to their music and be happy,” and asserted that girl groups need freedom too.

GLAM’s Miso got on an airplane barefoot?

Miso of rookie girl group GLAM made the other members erupt in laughter when she got on an airplane barefoot.

June 6th’s broadcast of SBS-MTV‘s ‘Real Music Drama GLAM‘ showed some behind-the-scenes footage.

In this episode, GLAM’s members told Miso that people have to take off their shoes when they get on the airplane, and Miso, who was getting on the airplane for the first time, believed the members’ joke. Miso ended up getting on the plane barefoot.

In the following interview, Miso found fault in herself for being clueless and shared her aegyo-filled complaint, “I’m worried that people will think I’m stupid. I just believed the unnies.”

Fans of singer Shayne, who made a name for himself on ‘Birth of a Great Star‘, prepared gifts for his former mentors, Shin Seung Hoon, Kim Yeon Woo, and vocal trainer Jang Jung Woo, on Teacher’s Day.

Shayne’s fans not only gave the three teachers gifts, but also appreciation plaques for helping Shayne with his singing career in South Korea. On the plaques were letters Shayne personally wrote to each mentor.

David Oh gets excited about Lady Gaga’s concert

MBC‘s ‘Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star Season 1′ finalist David Oh recently updated fans with the whereabouts his ‘Birth of a Great Star’ mentor Bang Shi Hyuk and himself.

The singer recently shared on his me2day, “Shi Hyuk Hyung and I are on our way to the Lady Gaga concert. Yaho Omg im going to lady gaga concert!! Time to marry the night”, along with a selca. The photo shows David Oh in a car with a sweet smile on his trip to the concert venue.

Fans responded, “Lady Gaga concert.. I’m so jealous”, “With Shi Hyuk Hyung? Wow you guys seem close”, and “I guess David Oh also went to the Lady Gaga concert.”

David Oh previously starred in MBC’s ‘We Got Married’ along with fellow ‘Birth of a Great Star Season 1′ finalist Kwon Ri Sae.

Lady Gaga started her world tour on the 27th in Seoul’s Jamsil Olympic Stadium and plans to perform in 11 countries.
