Final decision on MC Mong’s draft dodging charge to come soon

MC Mong, who is currently on trial on suspicion of dodging the military draft will receive his final judgment in the near future.

MC Mong is on trial for trying to get out of his mandatory duty to serve in the military. The trial before the Supreme Court will begin on May 24th.  It seems as though there will finally be a resolution to this long ordeal.  On this day, only the evidence and written documents will be reviewed so MC Mong does not need to personally appear.

A representative from MC Mong’s agency stated that they will quietly follow whatever decision is made.  Currently, there are no plans whatsoever of a comeback.  If the Supreme Court does not overrule the ruling laid down by the lower courts then MC Mong must fulfill his punishment of community service.

Through ‘Win WinBaek Ji Young, Haha, Lee Soo Geun and others have shown their support and given encouragement to MC Mong. Even netizens are wondering how he is doing these day. Thus, it seems that many people will be paying close attention to the final judgment.

Last November, MC Mong was found guilty by the Court of Appeals for intentionally trying to delay his military service, but not for charges that he extracted his own teeth in an effort to dodge conscription.  Because of this the prosecution has taken this matter up to the Supreme Court.  They are seeking review of only the charge that MC Mong had his teeth removed to avoid the draft.

MC Mong is charged with dodging the draft, but not held in physical detention.  If what the lower court’s judgement is upheld, then he would have to serve 6 months in prison, 1 year of probation, and 120 hours of community service.

MC Sniper disses comedian Lee Soo Geun?

Rapper MC Sniper, who recently made a comeback with his 6th album, fell into some misunderstanding about a supposed insult towards comedian Lee Soo Geun in his single “Better Dayz“.

MC Sniper collaborated with the musicians under his agency, Sniper Sound, for the track, which has a verse that states, “these talks behind my back, this talking is so funny”. Because Lee Soo Geun’s name sounds like “this talking” in Korean, many were confused as to whether it was an innocent mistake or if MC Sniper was actually making a diss towards the comedian.

The agency, Sniper Sound, responded by stating that the verse was just a punch line that was meant to be a fresh, shocking expression to hip-hop listeners.  They asserted that the lyrics were not referring to any name. Sniper Sound also added that these misunderstandings may just be another way that the public is showing interest towards the new album.

MC Sniper is currently receiving much love from hip-hop fans for his 6th album, ‘Full Time‘.
