Psy confirmed as new judge for ‘Superstar K4′

Singer Psy will be replacing Yoon Jong Shin as the new weekly judge on the audition program, ‘Superstar K4‘.

According to numerous broadcast representatives, Psy has been confirmed for the role and will be joining Lee Seung Chul as a judge on the yearly audition program.

Having debuted in 2001, Psy is not only a singer, but is known as one of Korea’s hit composers, rising in stardom with hit songs such as “Champion“, “Bird“, and “Entertainer“.

Psy will be judging alongside Lee Seung Chul, leaving one more spot for another judge. As Mnet has done the same in its previous seasons, the third judge is expected to be female. It’s being said that Mnet is currently in the last stages of reviewing candidates for its female judge.

Superstar K3′s Busker Busker & Oolala Session to debut soon

Mnet revealed today that the winner of Mnet’s ‘Superstar K3′ Oolala Session and runner-up Busker Busker will debut sometime between March and April.

Mnet claimed, “Oolala Session’s album will be released in April. The music industry of CJ E&M, famous composers, musicians, and music video directors have gathered to bring out the best of Oolala Session’s unique character into the album. Tons of effort and talent are comprised into this album and will definitely authenticate their win on Superstar K3.”

Moreover Mnet revealed, “Busker Busker has been incorporating their powerful passion and focus into their music, and as a result will be debuting in March. Brad (one of the members of Busker Busker) will be included in their debut.”

A representative of the music industry of CJ E&M stated, “CJ E&M will utilize its incubating system to debut the Top 11 (of Superstar K3) step by step.”

MNET to begin ‘Superstar K’ season 4

Beginning in March, survival audition program Mnet‘s ‘Superstar K‘ will begin registering contestants for its fourth season.

Mnet recently announced that the upcoming season will again be similar to the previous seasons. The registration process will begin in early March, regional auditions will take place from April to July, and broadcast for ‘Superstar K4′ will begin in August. Regardless of race and gender, anyone between the ages of 1 and 99 may participate in the audition.

Mnet acknowledged the ratings competition this year, stating, “As seasons go by, the competition between audition programs become more fierce. However, we believe that ‘Superstar K’ is an audition program that makes dreams become a reality.” They continued, “Again with season 4, we hope to satisfy contestants’ passions and dreams with a quality audition program.”

Superstar K3′s Kim Yerim to star in tvN drama, ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’

Two Months member Kim Yerim shot to fame after a favorable reception from her ‘Superstar K3‘ days. Whether it be singing, dancing, or acting, the multi-talented 19 year-old has been making moves on the industry. Now she’s ready to tackle her latest challenge: starring in a tvN drama production.

The drama, titled ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band‘, follows the story of handsome yet delinquent high school students who form a rock band called “Eye Candy”. It’s a fast paced, high-energy production catering towards a younger audience with a focus on friendship, love, music and passion.

Kim Yerim will play a top-class singer named after Yerim herself. Her character is described to be naive, yet elegant performer who has never had a relationship before. Yerim’s character will make her debut appearance starting from episode 6.

“We needed someone who could sing, but also possess that mysterious charm”, says the producer on casting Kim Yerim. “After watching Yerim’s performance with her duet band Two Months, we thought she would be the perfect actress to play the role. Her distinctive vocal color and persona will surely captivate the audience.”

The drama is to run for 16 episodes and is set to debut its pilot on January 20th.

Huh Gak reveals why he started a serious diet

Singer Huh Gak, who is growing out of his ‘Superstar K‘ shell with his new album ‘Hello‘, revealed why he decided to seriously begin a diet.

Huh Gak stated, “During ‘Superstar K2′, I went to the hospital once, and the results showed that I had a fatty liver. Because I was so shocked, I started working out and thinking I should seriously lose weight.” A fatty liver is when your liver is composed of more than 5% fat, which creates issues with metabolizing food into energy and can lead to other illnesses in the long run.

He went on to say, “After receiving the results, I lost 10 kg (22 lbs). However, after leaving ‘Superstar K’, I started to gain weight after a few months and the yo-yo diet found me, I was embarrassed seeing how fat I was on camera so I lost more than 10 kg again.”
