Double K shares a group photo taken with Dr. Dre

On August 19th, rapper Double K uploaded a proof-shot photo taken with famous American rapper and producer Dr. Dre.

Along with sharing the photo above, he wrote:

The photo seems to have been taken during the Beats By Dr. Dre brand party, which took place on August 18th.

Double K and Buga Kingz’s Juvie Train team up to create O.T.

Double K and Buga Kingz‘s Juvie Train have teamed up to create a new unit named O.T. (Original Taste).

Their debut digital single is slated for release on June 28th and is the composition of No Brain‘s Lee Sung Woo and J. Shin, with Juvie Train and Double K on the lyrics. Their title track “Monster” also includes a featuring by No Brain and is described to be a combination of rock sounds on hip hop beats.

No Brain readily accepted the offer to star in their music video, which is about a monster that attempts to bring out the potential in the modern man, to better protect themselves against the evils of modern society. Considering that Double K and Juvie Train have opposite rapping styles, fans are already looking forward to how the combination will work out alongside the vocals of No Brain’s main vocalist, Lee Sung Woo.

Popular underground rapper TakeOne auditions for ‘Show Me the Money’

On June 22nd, Mnet‘s ‘Show Me the Money‘, the rapper version of  ’I Am a Singer‘, aired its pilot broadcast featuring the preliminary rounds.

Garion, Verbal Jint, Double K, 45RPM, MC Sniper, Miryo, Joosuc, and Hoony Hoon oversaw the auditions of 1,000 rookie rappers, 21 of whom will be chosen to continue on and compete in the show.

Popular underground artist TakeOne was one of those auditioning and instantly earned the attention of the panel and viewers with this surprise appearance and performance. In addition to earning a passing score from Joosuc, he also shook hands with the senior artist.

The judges not only looked for musical talent, but also their passion for their craft, as many came armed with heartbreaking stories that made even the toughest of rappers shed a few tears. Contestants ranged from former girl group members to even former members of the panelist teams, such as the case with original 45RPM member Lee Byung Rong, who received a pass.

Out of the 21, eight will be chosen to team up with the panelists and compete against each other for the final win.

Miryo, Verbal Jint, MC Sniper, 45RPM, and more attend press conference for Mnet’s ‘Show Me the Money’

A roster of Korean hip hop musicians, Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo, Verbal Jint, MC Sniper, 45RPM, Hoony Hoon, GariOn, Double K, and Joosuc all gathered together on June 19th to attend a press conference for Mnet‘s new hip-hop program, ‘Show Me the Money‘.

The conference was held earlier today in the M-Pub located at Seoul Yeongdeungpo’s Time Square. The eight cast members for the upcoming program all shared the spotlight and answered questions for reporters, discussing their goals for the program as well as sharing a few behind the scenes stories during their recording.

‘Show Me the Money’, the ‘rapper version’ of MBC‘s ‘I Am a Singer‘, will be collaborating with rookie rappers chosen out of a 1,000 participant audition to perform on stage and compete against each other for the top spot.

Mnet to launch rapper version of ‘I Am a Singer’ titled ‘Show Me the Money’

Mnet‘s ‘Show Me the Money‘, the ‘rapper version’ of ‘I Am a Singer‘, has unveiled its finalized cast list!

The cast list holds prestigious names in the industry that represent Korean hip hop. Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo, Verbal Jint, beatboxer Hoony Hoon, Joosuc, Double K, Garion, MC Sniper, and 45RPM will be teaming up with rookie rappers chosen out of a 1,000 participant audition to perform on stage and compete against each other for the top spot.

Fans are looking forward to how the veteran rappers will be working with rookies to collaborate and create new and exciting stages each week.

PD Lee Sun Young explained, “‘Show Me the Money’ will be the first hip hop program Mnet will be producing in 10 years since 2000-2004′s ‘Hip Hop the Vibe‘. After the successful launch of audition programs like ‘Superstar K‘ and ‘Voice Korea‘, we have been working to produce shows of other genres. ‘Show Me the Money’ is a result of such efforts.”

Lee continued, “Rap has been consistently loved by music fans of all genres, as it’s been incorporated in genres like dance all this while. ‘Show Me the Money’ aims to present a variety of stages that combine these elements, so please look forward to it.”

The show will begin airing on June 22nd at 11 p.m.
