T-ara Opens Up on SISTAR Hyolyn’s ‘Rude Attitude’ Controversy

T-ara stepped forth to calm the debate on SISTAR Hyolyn’s ‘impolite’ tanning remark.

T-ara stated through an official press release on July 16, “The members of SISTAR and T-ara are close friends and meet often onstage and in person. We didn’t feel anything during the broadcast, and we’re sorry that it’s become such an issue. I hope no one starts to go beyond the facts that were shown on the broadcast.”



The press release also added, “We became fans of SISTAR after seeing how hard they always work onstage. We hope Hyolyn and all the members of SISTAR continue to be loved for their good music.”

The debate on Hyolyn’s form of speech was sparked by a conversation between T-ara and SISTAR that was aired on the July 14 broadcast of KBS2’s Entertainment Weekly.

T-ara’s So Yeon had told SISTAR, “I love tanned skin. I envy your fit bodies,” to which SISTAR’s Hyolyn answered, “You can just get a tan.”

The form of speech she used to address So Yeon, however, wasn’t the polite form, leading some to point out that Hyolyn was being rude on broadcast.
