Kim Kyu Jong To Start Military Service Today

Kim Kyu Jong left to serve his military duties on July 23.

Five hundred fans from inside and outside Korea were there to send the singer off as he entered the recruit training center in Jeonju.

He will receive four weeks of basic military training and then serve the rest of his term as a public service worker.

Just before his entrance, Kim Kyu Jong told enews, “I’ll come back healthy after getting through the training.”

Fellow SS501 members Heo Young Saeng and Kim Hyung Jun were also there to see him enter the camp. Kim Kyu Jong is the first SS501 member to begin serving his duties.

The singer was originally waived from service for having hepatitis B, but due to the revised military laws he was newly categorized as a public service worker.

Kim Kyu Jong debuted as a member of SS501 in 2005 and recently began solo activities.

He has also built an acting career through the musical Princess Hours and the TV Chosun drama Saving Mrs. Ko Bong Sil.

He released his last mini album Meet Me Again on July 18 for his fans before his enlistment.
