ZE:A tops music charts for the first time since debut with “Phoenix”

9 member idol group ZE:A climbed to the top of music charts for the first time since debuting nearly 3 years ago.

Kwanghee, Kevin, Siwan, Junyoung, Taeheon, Heechul, Minwoo, Hyunsik, and Dongjun released their new single “Phoenix” on August 27th. Within 4 hours, the song quickly climbed to the #1 spot and still maintains a high rank on the major Korean music site, Bugs Music.

The boys debuted in January of 2010 and made themselves further known as the members each took up individual activities and promotions, including variety programs and drama appearances. ZE:A also boasts high popularity in the rest of Asia, but this is the first time their song has ranked #1 on online music charts, and this accomplishment has brought great joy to the group.

Their agency Star Empire had written via ZE:A’s official Twitter page, “ZE:A’s “Phoenix” has ranked #1 on Bugs’ real time chart! The ZE:A members who were really excited wanted to convey their grateful hearts to all of you ZE:A’s.”

“Phoenix” is a song which members Dongjun, Junyoung, and Minwoo have participated in penning the lyrics for, and it is a French-pop style track that consists of synth sounds, and acoustic guitar.

Dongjun remarked, “I am more attached to this song because the members and I wrote the lyrics for it, and now that we ranked #1, it is much more loveable. We will more thoroughly prepare for our stage, so please look forward to it!”

In related news, ZE:A will be putting on their first “Phoenix” performance on Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’ on August 30th.

ZE:A’s Japanese version of “Phoenix” ranks #2 on Oricon

ZE:A‘s Japanese version of their new single “Phoenix“, released on August 24th, has ranked number two on the Oricon daily chart!

Star Empire stated, “There is a difference of about 500 albums sold between Z:EA and girl group AKB48, who placed number one. Therefore, if ZE:A were to start promotions in Japan, they may be able to take the number one spot.”

Leader Junyoung also expressed his own thoughts stating, “We hope the good results in Japan will continue on over to our Korean promotions as well. All of the members were so glad when we gained more fans through the promotions of ‘Aftermath‘. We will pay back our fans with ‘Phoenix’, which we have worked hard on.”

ZE:A will return to Korea on the 28th to begin their domestic “Phoenix” promotions.

ZE:A releases Heecheol, Minwoo, & Taeheon’s album jacket photos for ‘Phoenix’

After revealing Kwanghee and Hyungsik‘s and Kevin and Siwan‘s jacket photos for upcoming single, ‘Phoenix‘, ZE:A has released photos for Heecheol, Minwoo, and Taeheon!

Staying true to the dark theme, the newly released photos also show the members in black ensembles with smoke surrounding them, giving off a mysterious, yet powerful look to go along with their new single.

‘Phoenix’ is ZE:A’s newest single that is said to be the boy group’s attempt at a completely new music style. If ‘Aftermath’ showcased a more soft side of the boys, then through ‘Phoenix’, the boys will display the opposite image with fierce synchronized choreography to go with the song’s strong beat.

Kwanghee and Hyungsik‘s jacket photos for ZE:A‘s upcoming single, ‘Phoenix‘, have been revealed!

The two exude a more mature vibe in the newly revealed photos compared to their previous concepts. Hyungsik is seen wearing a luxurious suit and showing off his soft yet masculine side profile, while Kwanghee, unlike his usual variety-dol self, draws in viewers with his piercing stare.

ZE:A to simultaneously release new single ‘Phoenix’ in both Korea & Japan

Idol group ZE:A will be following up with new single, ‘Phoenix‘.

The boys’ agency Star Empire turned to ZE:A’s fan site to inform fans of the group’s follow-up activities to take place after promotions for their 2nd album ‘Spectacular‘ come to an end.

According to the fan site announcement, ZE:A will be taking a week-long break following this week’s music program performances and will release their new single album ‘Phoenix’ in both Korea and Japan August 27th.

‘Phoenix’ is reported to consist of five tracks total, including an R&B version of their 2nd album title song “Aftermath“, “Heart For 2“, and “Exciting”, and more.

A representative from Star Empire remarked, “At the time the boys promoted ‘Aftermath’, they focused on expressing mature emotions with their dramatized stage performances, but for their ‘Phoenix’ promotions, the boys will be displaying a fierce and powerful synchronized choreography. The song sings of the members’ fierce desire to never give up and one day reach the summit, and ZE:A will be displaying a whole new side to themselves that’s completely different from their “Aftermath” image.”

The rep added, “The Japanese version of ‘Phoenix’ has a different concept from the Korean version. Taking into consideration the fan base and market tendencies in each country, the album jackets images, the subtracks, and more may be a little different.”

Meanwhile, ZE:A will be partaking in advance promotions in Japan starting August 24th.
