Lee Seung Gi, “Working with Ha Ji Won is a dream come true”

On April 11th, MBC‘s ‘The King 2 Hearts‘ posted an interview conducted with Lee Seung Gi on their official website.

Lee Seung Gi who plays the role of South Korean prince Lee Jae Ha said, “In the beginning, the drama gave a review of the characters, the situation between North and South Korea, and how different it is from reality, in order for the viewers to better understand the story. It revealed the evil yet important characters Yoon Jae Moon and Lee Soon Jae, how they would serve as obstacles for Jae Ha and Hangah, how they would be able to become unified, and more.”

The more the drama unfolds, the more intense it gets,” he added.

In regards to working with his co-star Ha Ji Won, he said, “I’ve always wanted to work with Ha Ji Won, my dream came true. A lot of times you’re disappointed when a situation doesn’t meet your expectations and dreams, but we have better chemistry than I had ever expected and I am learning a lot from her.”

In the script, Jae Ha likes beautiful women who are a little ditzy, and Lee Seung Gi was asked what his ideal type of woman was in real life. “It changes everyday,” he said. “As time passes, my ideal woman changes too. It sounds a bit strange to say my ideal woman is someone who is beautiful and a little ditzy, but through Jae Ha, I realized that that kind of woman may be every guy’s ideal type. It’s a lot more realistic than I first thought.

Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi confirmed their feelings for one another on the latest episode of the popular drama.

On the April 5th episode of MBC’s ‘The King 2 Hearts‘, Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi) realizes that he has feelings for Hang Ah (Ha Ji Won).

Jae Ha expresses his complicated his feelings to Jae Shin (Lee Yoon Ji), who helps him organize his emotions.

Hang Ah, who realizes Jae Ha has feelings for her, remarked, “I’ll be honest, too. I thought about being with you because I knew I could live a more luxurious life by doing so.”

I’m serious,” she said. “You seem to think I’m so naïve and sincere, but that’s honestly what I was thinking. And I also wanted to seek revenge.”

I did like you, but I decided not to marry you because of our North-South relationship,” she continued. “I can just go marry overseas. This is the end,” and shook his hand.

Jae Ha responded by saying, “There is something we do in South Korea whenever something comes to an end. After party.”

Jae Ha prepared an after party for the two of them, and they both drank heavily. Seeing how intoxicated and tired Hang Ah was, Jae Ha suggested she rest on his shoulder.

Are you going to try and kiss me again?” she asked, to which Jae Ha responded, “What, you want me to?”

Lee Seung Gi’s character meets North Korean SONE on ‘The King 2 Hearts’

On the fourth episode of MBC‘s ‘The King 2 Hearts‘, Lee Seung Gi, who plays Lee Jae Ha (Prince of South Korea), teased Jeong Man Sik (North Korean Soldier) about his secret love for Girls’ Generation. This unnecessary act by Lee Jae Ha caused Jeong Man Sik to explode in anger and confront the prince.

In previous episodes, Lee Jae Ha unwillingly joined a joint military team consisting of North and South Korean soldiers to promote peace between the two Koreas.  The team is a six man party which includes Kim Hang Ah (Ha Ji Won), Choi Kwon (Kwon Yeong Bae), and Jeong Man Sik (Ri Kang Seok) who are all North Koreans.  The remaining three South Koreans are Jo Jeong Seok (Eun Si Kyung), Kwon Hyeon Sang (Yeom Dong Ha), and the prince, Lee Jae Ha.  Prince Lee Jae Ha, who has a rebellious and irresponsible character, didn’t get along with Jeong Man Sik from the start.

In this latest episode, Lee Jae Ha decided to play a prank on his North Korean teammate by presenting him a laptop for his birthday.  Of course it wasn’t just any ordinary computer.  Lee Jae Ha programmed it so that it would automatically play Girls’ Generation’s “The Boys” as soon as the device was turned on. Delighted, Jeong Man Sik happily watched the video until a video message popped up with Lee Jae Ha. “True friends understand each other’s feelings without speaking words right?  You don’t need to be shy.  To be awed by the culture of a highly developed country is nothing to be ashamed of,” Lee Jae Ha teased.

Enraged Jeong Man Sik grabbed a hold of Lee Jae Ha’s collar and retorted, “South Korean scumbags don’t understand different values!” After noticing the ruckus through cameras, military officials soon came to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Although North Korea is an isolated country, the locals get many of their South Korean entertainment content from China.  There are bound to be a few Girls’ Generation fans (officially called “SONES“) there.

The star was interviewed on the set of ‘The King 2 Hearts’, and he talked about his difficult CBR training scene.

“It was no joke. I’ve never done it before so I thought ‘Let’s actually spread the chemicals in the air when we film’,” he said. “But the director told us, ‘If we do that, you’ll die. You won’t be able to act’, so we went with fake smoke.

“I think that spreading fake smoke for 4 hours is equivalent to airing the chemicals for 2 minutes,” he continued, explaining how difficult the scene really was.

Lee Seung Gi also commented on his ‘scarf kiss’ scene with actress Ha Ji Won that’s been causing a lot of buzz lately.

“We weren’t very close at the time, so I thought, ‘Is this okay?’ I felt pretty shy about it, but the director and noona (Ha Ji Won) said that I was actually pretty aggressive.”

When asked what kind of son he is at home, he responded, “When I have a lot of work and am juggling a busy schedule, there are times I’ll complain and get annoyed easily like any other son.”

While filming this drama, there was a week where I was barely at home because of work. Until then, I didn’t realize what it felt like to miss your parents, but I really missed my mom and dad during that week,” he continued.

Meanwhile, according to AGB Nielsen Media Research Korea, ’The King 2 Hearts’ which tells the story of a South Korean prince and a North Korean military official, drew in an impressive viewership of 16.5% thanks to both Lee Seung Gi & Ha Ji Won’s impassioned performances.

Lee Seung Gi keeps his promise and visits ‘Miracle Child’ Cho Eunseo

As promised, singer Lee Seung Gi (25) made a surprise visit to ‘Miracle Child’ Cho Eunseo.

‘Miracle Child’ Cho Eunseo is a 7 year old girl and the first person in Korea to receive seven internal organ transplants. Eunseo was born with a rare condition that prevented her stomach, small & large intestines from digesting food. Until now, she regurgitated any food she tried to eat, and therefore has maintained the past seveen years of her life by receiving nutritional supplement shots. But last October, a six year old suffering from brain cancer donated 7 internal organs to Eunseo, and after a meticulous yet successful 9-hour surgery, she can now live a normal life.

The surgery was completed by Kim Dae Hyun and the team at ASAN Medical Center, and they transplanted seven organs including a liver, pancreas, stomach, small intestines, duodenum, spleen and large intestines, allowing Eunseo to finally comfortably eat and digest food. The news of this miracle was reported on February 16th.

During an interview that took place after her surgery, Eunseo remarked, “It’s my wish to eat galbi (Korean BBQ) and hamburgers. I also want to meet Lee Seung Gi oppa.”

Upon hearing the news, Lee Seung Gi promised that he would visit Eunseo as soon as she had taken some time to recover.

Lee Seung Gi kept his promise and made a surprise visit to Eunseo in late February without making the news public, but rumors recently began circling that his visit was only the result of a request made by the politician Jung Mong Jun. Seung Gi’s representatives made an official statement regarding the rumors saying, “Lee Seung Gi went to see Eunseo as he previously promised, not because governor Jung had asked him to.” According to the representative, Seung Gi arrived at the hospital first, and governor Jung followed after.

Seung Gi’s visit with Eunseo was made public only after governor Jung wrote via his official Twitter page, “Lee Seung Gi came to the hospital to see Eunseo,” and shared photos of sneakers and a scholarship certificate Seung Gi had brought as gifts.

Lee Seung Gi brings laughs with his crazy swinging for last broadcast of ’1N2D’

On February 26th, KBS2 TV aired its last broadcast of ‘1N2D,’ which documented the second part of the cast’s last trip.

On this broadcast, when Lee Soo Geun showed off his swinging skills on a large swing at the base camp, Lee Seung Gi confidently stated that he could swing just as well as Lee Soo Geun and challenged his swinging skills.

However, once Lee Seung Gi got on the swing, he showed that he couldn’t swing due to his inability to find the right rhythm, and showered his castmates with questions on how to time his reactions and how to find the rhythm with a quizzical look on his face.

After Lee Seung Gi’s attempt at swinging, Eun Ji Won showed that he could swing well too, which caused Na Young Suk PD to comment that “It’s just Lee Seung Gi who can’t swing.” Lee Seung Gi, who then became embarrassed, asked if it was really that weird when he was trying to swing.

Despite his first failed attempt, Lee Seung Gi continued to try to swing; although Eun Ji Won tried to help by pushing Lee Seung Gi from behind, Lee Seung Gi still could not find the right rhythm and continued to swing around in one spot, which brought laughs from everyone  because of his horrible swinging.

Although ’1N2D’ is over, there will be a “Season 2″ of ’1N2D,’ which is scheduled to air in March, with both old and new cast members: Um Tae Woong, Kim Jong Min, Kim Seung Woo, Lee Soo Geun, Cha Tae Hyun, Sung Shi Kyung and Joo Won.
