'Pieta' wins the Golden Lion Award in Venice!

'Pieta' won the Golden Lion award(Leone d'Oro) at the Venice International Film Festival.




On 8th, director Kim Ki Duk's new movie, 'Pieta' was given 'Leone d'Oro' at the 69th Venice International Film Festival.




It was first time that a Korean movie won the award, and this achievement will be recorded as a major historical event in Korean movie industry.




'Pieta' won three awards previously, including 'PREMIO AGISCUOLA LEONCINO D'ORO', 'Premio P. Nazareno Taddei', and 'Mouse D'oro, and when 'Pieta' was called out, director Kim Ki Duk went up on the stage with a bright smile on his face.




Kim said, "I'd like to express my thanks to all of the actors and the staffs who participated in the movie. Furthermore, I'd like to share this honor with everyone who voted for 'Pieta'."




Actor Cho Min Soo said, "I feel so happy for winning the award for the first time in Korean movie history," and showed his tears of joy.




On the other hand, 'Pieta' is a movie about a man meeting a woman who claims to be his mother, and it is being played at movie theaters all across the nation.
