John Park to Represent Air-Ticket Solidarity Contribution

John Park was appointed honorary ambassador of the Air-Ticket Solidarity Contribution.



The Air-Ticket Solidarity Contribution, which was first introduced to Korea in 2007, is a policy which takes 1,000 won out of every ticket sold for planes leaving from Korea and contributes it to an organization.

Every year about 15 billion won is gathered, and the funds are used to fight poverty and disease in Africa through the Korea International Cooperation Agency or non-governmental organizations.

A rep from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade told enews through John Park’s agency Music Farm on July 31, “Not a lot of people know that whenever they leave the country 1,000 won is donated to Africa. We chose John Park to be our honorary ambassador because we believed his kind, exemplary image fits the aims of the Air-Ticket Solidarity Contribution, which delivers hope to the poor countries of Africa.”

An official from Music Farm said, “We believe it’s very meaningful that John Park was chosen to be honorary ambassador for the Air-Ticket Solidarity Contribution. As we know the contribution is there for a good cause, we will actively participate in promotion activities.”

John Park will be starting his duties by attending the Happy Flight Campaign to take place on July 31 in Incheon International Airport.

The Happy Flight Campaign will include not only an appointment ceremony, but also a photo exhibition for a hopeful Africa, civilian photo events and acapella and sand art performances.
