B1A4’s Gong Chan Recovering After Kidney Removal Surgery

B1A4’s Gong Chan is recovering after receiving surgery to remove a kidney on July 23.

According to B1A4’s agency, since the group’s promotions for Sleep Well, Good Night, Gong Chan began experiencing severe pain in his side.

After visiting a hospital for a full check-up, it was revealed one of Gong Chan’s kidneys was in poor condition from birth and the singer was recommended to undergo surgery to remove his kidney.

However, Gong Chan expressed resolute determination to finish out promotions for Sleep Well, Good Night with his group members before receiving surgery which was the reason for his surgery’s delay until now.

Gong Chan received pain killers every time his side began to ache during the recent promotions, and he made it clear he didn’t want to cause unnecessary concern for B1A4’s fans, choosing not to reveal his medical condition until B1A4’s promotions concluded.

However, the medial diagnosis revealed one of Gong Chan’s kidney was not functioning at all, which led to a decision to have it removed.

Gong Chan will stay in the hospital for at least a week to recover and will not take part in any activities for the time being.

B1A4’s first episode of KBS’ B1A4 Hello Baby will premiere on July 25.
