TGN Entertainment apologizes for Leader’S debut showcase

Yesterday, it was revealed that reporters left the scene of Leader’S debut showcase disappointed and upset with the way the girls were used as a scheme for business purposes for coffee franchise ‘Scentimor‘.

In response to the negative reports, representatives of TGN Entertainment have issued an official statement of apology.

They expressed,

“We would like to express our apologies towards the reporters that were disrespected by the staff of coffee franchise ‘Scentimor’. We would like to accept full responsibility for giving the franchise control over the event. First, we acknowledge that the business aspect of the event was over the top, and that was our fault for trying to match the event’s proceedings around the business explanations. The girl group worked hard with the situation they were given, and they are at no fault. We are worried that their image will be harmed for something they were not responsible for. We ask that you please forgive the mistakes made on this day.”

Not only had the event been disorganized, but a staff of ‘Scentimor’ had shouted and sworn at the reporters once things did not flow to her satisfaction. Reporters immediately filed out, and she was eventually forced to publicly apologize, and the CEOs of TGN ENtertainment and ‘Scentimor’ arrived on the scene to issue their own apologies.

The representatives continued,

“The girls’ official debut is actually early next year, but in an effort to fit a showcase in on a business-related schedule with the coffee franchise, we could not complete and prepare everything required. We still have not chosen the titles of their songs, and we admit that it was disappointing that the girls had to lip synch because of the lack of equipment and setup. We acknowledge that this was due to a lack of experience on our part.”

“The girls of Leader’S are young, passionate girls that have been working so hard in a situation with little benefits. They will rehearse harder to get back on stage, so please forgive the mistake of their first showcase and continue to watch over them.”

24 member girl group Leader’S debut showcase leaves reporters disappointed

Businesses have been increasingly working hand in hand with celebrities to create a synergistic effect through different and unique marketing tactics.

The first positive case of such a collaboration was Sidus HQ and cafe franchise Caffe Bene. By using Caffe Bene as its background in dramas and having its celebrities like Han Ye Seul actively promote the brand, Caffe Bene quickly rose to the top as a coffee franchise.

However, not all collaborations provide to be as successful. Much attention was put on the debut of Korea’s first ever 24 member girl group, Leader’S, but little was known about their partnership with coffee franchise ‘Scentimor‘. Reporters were in for a surprise when they showed up for the group’s debut showcase on December 28th.

Reporters immediately noticed that the focus was on the investment opportunities for the coffee franchise and not in the girl group’s debut. The 20 media outlets that had gathered had shown up for the unveiling of a 24 member girl group project but were instead met with endless explanations on the business behind their franchise, and some reporters even had to give way to let investors in.

Once verbal fights began to erupt, reporters left the scene, clearly disappointed with the turnabout of the events.

‘Scentimor’ had also failed to consider the equipment Leader’S would need for their showcase, so the girls lipsynched their debut without any spotlights to properly show their dance performance.

Unfortunately, the debut of Korea’s first 24 member girl group ended up being a scheme to attract investors to a new business. Their intentions were seen and heard, and reporters left with a loss of trust.

24 member girl group Leader’S scheduled to debut next year

24 member girl group, Leader’S, will make their debut in the beginning of next year.

Though the group’s actual debut is a few months away, it’s been confirmed that the profiles of each member will be released this month. It was also recently revealed that the eight member group Leader’S T, pictured above, was only a sub-unit of the whole group.

TGN Entertainment revealed the reasoning behind this unique group size, stating,
“We hope you will be mesmerized by the harmony of twenty-four girls. When you look at the idol groups these days, they are called “single line singers” because most have each members singing only a line out of a song. Many people have been saying, “If you have 24 members then they will sing one word instead of one line,” but every member of Leader’S will sing from the beginning to the end. All of the members have undeniably good vocals. Even their twelve hour practices mostly consist of vocal training.”

Leader’S actually a 24 member girl group?

It has been revealed that the eight ladies of Leader’S, the girl group that received attention after releasing their ’2018 Pyungchang Olympics’ congratulatory song, are actually one unit of a larger 24-member girl group.

Their agency TGN Entertainment stated, “TGN is the acronym for TaGoNa (meaning ‘gifted at birth’ in Korean), and we have embarked on a project to debut separate units LeadersT,LeadersG, and LeadersN, in that order. The group currently promoting their track “Kiss Me” are members of the LeadersT unit.”

They continued, “We have selected these girls through a survival competition, and the members of the units may interchange, depending on the situation. LeadersG and LeadersT are working hard to make their official debut.”

The idea for the 24-member Leader’S was taken from the mega popular Japanese girl group,AKB48, and TGN Entertainment decided to grow the girl group, 8 members at a time.

But why 8? The number 8 is considered to be a lucky number in the Chinese culture, and ‘pal’, the Korean word for ‘eight’, sounds similar to the first synonym of ‘Pachai’ which in Chinese means, ‘to make money’. Their idea is that the girls of Leader’S will dominate the largest (Chinese) market in the world.

Different from most idol girl groups, Leader’S will not be pushing neither a ‘sexy’ nor ‘adorable’ concept, rather, they’re attempting to create a friendly, approachable image for themselves.

Their agency stated, “We want the girls to feel like friends to the fans, rather than celebrities. We want them to seem more approachable than other idol groups.”

And rather than each member having a fixed ‘style’, the members will be flexible to adapt and change, depending on what the fans desire.

TGN Entertainment understands that above all, vocal talent is more important than anything else and they’re rigorously training each member. All 24 girls are practicing dance and singing for around 12 hours a day.

LeadersT include members leader Dahae (25), Sulji (22), Serin (20), Yeonshil (20), Pengie(19) Chae Yool (18), Yesol (17), Kyung Sook (17), etc. Their ages all vary between 17-25.

Leader’S draw attention for their 2018 Winter Olympic song

Eight-member girl group Leader’S recently released their congratulatory theme song for the 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Olympics. Consisting of students from high schools for the arts, Leader’S is a new group that plans to promote the group and the Olympics with their new dance track, “Olympic Korea.”

The song is the first upbeat track to follow the duet between Kim Yuna and Park Jung Hyunearlier this year promoting the 2018 Olympics as well.

“Olympic Korea” was produced by Jung Won Soo, a maker of many hit trot songs includingNam Jin‘s “Windy Road” and Hyun Chul‘s “Love Explosion.” The track has a general pop electronic feel with a slight trot twist and is easy enough for anyone to follow along with.

Jung Won Soo said, “I transfered the excitement I felt from hearing the 2018 Pyeong Chang news into simple lyrics and matched it with the fundamental Korean melody. I gave the song to a girl group that I believe will best use this song to cheer at the events,” and to carry on the excitement through 2018.

The group chose the name Leader’S because they want to become the leaders of Korean girl groups.
