Actress Jun Ji Hyun attends Hong Kong premiere for ‘The Thieves’

Korean blockbuster film ‘The Thieves’ is enjoying huge attention outside of Korea.


Ahead of the film’s airing in cinemas across Hong Kong from September 6th, actress Jun Ji Hyun jetted into Hong Kong this past weekend for promotional events together with fellow film co-stars Simon Yam and Derek Tsang, receiving lots of attention from the local media.


Even before ‘The Thieves’ begun airing in Korea, the film had already gotten lots of attention from many because of director Choi Dong Hun and its A-list cast members. The film was then successfully exported to 8 countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Thailand, gaining lots of attention from moviegoers of these countries.


‘The Thieves’ will premiere from September 6th in Hong Kong and Indonesia, September 13th in Singapore, and then in


October and November for Malaysia, Thailand respectively, with other countries to follow in the subsequent months.


‘The Thieves’ will be shown in 32 cinemas all over Hong Kong and just falls short of the 36 screens held by ‘Tidal Wave’. It however trumps the 20 screens that all-time best selling South Korean movie ‘The Host’ had back in 2006 in Hong Kong.


At the VIP premiere held this past weekend, Jun Ji Hyun graced the premiere together with fellow film co-stars Simon Yam and Derek Tsang. Jun Ji Hyun begun by thanking fans in Cantonese before expressing, “There was a period of time when I wandered around in Hong Kong and Macau, happily filming the film with many talented actors. It has left me with a wonderful memory.”


With regards to her wire scenes in the film, Jun Ji Hyun said, “I could have used a stunt woman, but decided to do it myself, so that I can better portray the image of my character, Ye Nicole,” showing her passion for the film.


Meanwhile, Simon Yam organized a welcome party for Jun Ji Hyun whom he hadn’t seen in a long while. Simon Yam said, “I am really happy to hear that ‘The Thieves’ have done extremely well at the Korean box office. If there’s an opportunity, I would like to act in another Korean film.”
