Recent unedited broadcast of T-ara on variety show sets off negative reactions

The appearance of the members of T-ara on ‘Quiz to Change the World‘ has set off a firestorm of public protest.

On the broadcast of the MBC variety program on the 4th, netizens were shocked to find that T-ara was not edited out of the program. The girls filmed this episode before the bullying scandal made headlines and the episode had been gaining much interest from viewers even before its air date, with questions about how the episode would be edited.

However, the questions were answered in a way some netizens found unacceptable. Eunjung, Jiyeon and new member Ahreum‘s portions were aired with no particular signs of having been filtered. The members of the girl group could be seen engaging in conversation with other guests and smiling brightly.

T-ara demonstrated the choreography for their title song ‘DAY BY DAY‘ while new member Ahreum even got the chance to dance for a ‘Dance Initiation‘. Furthermore, the girls spoke about their overseas promotions as well on the episode.

The girl group has been the center of all entertainment news for the past several days as a result of the controversy surrounding the bulling of now ex-member Hwayoung. However, Core Contents Media denied the reports stating, “The assertions made about bullying are false” and eventually Hwayoung’s contract with the group was terminated. As a result of the scandal, T-ara has decided to temporarily put a halt to their activities.

After the chain of messy events occured, T-ara’s fans turned their backs on the group and created ‘T-Jinyo‘, demanding the truth from T-ara and CCM president Kim Kwang Soo. Although the agency tried to justify the situation, fans and netizens are enraged by the fact that the bullying issue got out of hand in the first place, but also because the agency has yet to simply apologize for and acknowledge that the bullying did in fact occur.

Immediately after the episode of ‘Quiz to Change the World’ aired, comments of protest have flooded the internet. The majority of the comments criticize the production team.

A few examples of the comments were, “How could you let T-ara air on television?“, “The production staff needs to apologize immediately“, “What is going on? What do you mean T-ara was on the broadcast?“, “It seems as if the production crew is very brazen“, “What are you thinking? To think nothing at all was edited“, and more. Some comments went on to denounce MBC as a whole.

As of right now, the ‘Quiz to Change the World’ production team has yet to make a statement about the controversial broadcast. All are waiting to see what kind of justification they will make about the situation.

CCM reveals details from the meeting with Sajungyeon representative

As mentioned previously, Core Contents Media had revealed that they had met with a representative of Sajungyeon (social justice union). In recent news, the agency has followed up with details from the meeting through a press release.

The meeting is said to have taken place at 6:35 PM KST on August 3rd after CCM had reached out to a representative of T-Jinyo through a phone call at 3:30 PM stating, “We will comply with whatever conditions T-Jinyo requests for this meeting.”

The agency then met with an individual (nicknamed ‘Ahreutbit‘), who was in charge of the previously scheduled protest, for 30 minutes.

CCM stated, “We explained to ‘Ahreutbit’ for 30 minutes about how this story of bullying between the members of T-ara and Hwayoung did not have anything to do with what had happened. ‘Ahreutbit’ asked us, ‘Can you make these truths clear to the members of T-Jinyo?’, and Kim Kwang Soo CEO replied, ‘I will meet with them whenever they wish to.’”

“Kim Kwang Soo emphasized, ‘This incident had nothing to do with stories of bullying and only occurred since a celebrity did not keep the promise she has with the public for she did not appear on a live broadcast. That is Core Contents Media’s policy on the management of celebrities,’” the agency added.

The agency went onto reveal that the members of T-ara as well Hwayoung and their parents have suffered a great deal, and that ‘Ahreutbit’ had agreed to arrange a meeting between Kim Kwang Soo and T-jinyo, as well as posting on the T-Jinyo cafe that there was never any bullying involved.

CCM also pointed out that ‘Ahreutbit’ is now receiving much criticism after the cancellation of the protest and the meeting with Kim Kwang Soo, and expressed their hopes for the members of T-Jinyo to not put blame on ‘Ahreutbit’.

T-Jinyo and Sajungyeon cancel protest + plans to meet with Kim Kwang Soo and T-ara

Yesterday, it had been reported that T-Jinyo had rejected Kim Kwang Soo‘s offer to meet privately and would go on with their scheduled protest. However, it seems plans have now changed.

After the initial announcement, another announcement was posted stating that the protest has been canceled by Sajungyeon (social justice union) and T-jinyo. The groups cited the lack of preparation and the lack of response among their members as the reason for the cancellation.

In addition, it seems a discussion was held between the representatives of Sajungyeon and Kim Kwang Soo prior to the cancellation of the protest to negotiate and discuss the future course of action.

A representative of Core Contents Media revealed, “The representatives of the protest and CEO Kim met and had a candid discussion about the issue… [Kim] explained that this situation did not come about due to bullying within T-ara.”

So far, both groups have announced that they will be working towards the direction of holding an open meeting with Kim Kwang Soo and the T-ara members to discuss the matter.

Online café ‘T-Jinyo’ (We Demand the Truth from T-ara) gains more than 160,000 members

The number of members who have joined online café T-Jinyo (“We Demand the Truth from T-ara”) has now surpassed 160,000.

Fans created ‘T-Jinyo’ shortly after CCM‘s CEO Kim Kwang Soo announced that member Hwayoung will be leaving T-ara. While T-ara’s fan café has lost around 6,000 members, the members of the ‘T-Jinyo’ café has been steadily increasing. And now less than a day after the big announcement, the number of T-Jinyo members has quickly surpassed 160,000. Fans are using the café to argue that they have a right to know the truth, and that they deserve a clear explanation as to why Hwayoung is leaving the group. Incidents of where Hwayoung was supposedly being bullied by the other members have continuously been shared by fans, while other netizens are creating online bulletin boards to show their support and encouragement for Hwayoung.

It seems like the name for the café was modeled  after ‘Tajinyo’, and some netizens are even petitioning for the T-ara members be expelled from variety shows and K-dramas, as well as the entire disbandment of T-ara.
