It was revealed that actor Seung Kyu (real name: Lee Seung Kyu) passed away two days ago after a car accident and his funeral procession was held today at Saint Mary’s Hospital at Banpo-dong, Seoul on August 13th.
After finishing watching South Korea clinch the Men’s Olympic football bronze medal in their 3rd place playoff match against Japan on August 11th, Seung Kyu got into a serious car accident while on the way home, and passed away instantly after sustaining serious trauma to his head.
Seung Gyu played mainly supporting roles in dramas like ‘Yi San’, ‘Woman of Matchless Beauty, Park Jung Kum’, ‘Powerful Opponents’, ‘The World That They Live In’ and many more.
He was in the midst of filming for MBC’s ‘God of War’ at the moment and had scenes in the drama until the final episode. The production company staff are all shocked at the sudden turn of events and feeling a bit downcast at what has happened, and will likely modify the script soon to make up for Seung Gyu’s absence.
