Famous producers, Shinsadong Tiger and Brave Brothers, recently opened up about their earnings and their sensitivity to chart rankings.
The two guested on this week’s episode of KBS‘s ‘Win Win’ and revealed, “Composers are sensitive to music chart rankings.”
Shinsadong Tiger explained, “Since we are receiving money for our work, we have to take responsibility.” Brave Brothers, who has just established their own record label, stated, “I’m also very concerned about chart rankings… It’s because it takes a lot of money to produce an album.”
When asked about their earnings, Shinsadong Tiger refused to reveal the total amount that he’s made as a producer. “I’m afraid my parents will rely on me too much if I reveal my earnings,” he said, causing laughter over his joke. However, he added, “When I’m making a lot, I make up to 100 million Korean Won (~$89,000 USD) a month. But, if I even rest for one day, my earnings for next month decreases.”
Brave Brothers replied that for the past 4 years, his total earnings were a staggering 5 billion Korean Won (~$4.42 million USD). He revealed that the songs he receives the most copyright fees for are Son Dambi‘s “Saturday Night” and After School‘s “Because of You”.
As for Shinsadong Tiger, his best money-making songs were revealed to be BEAST‘s“Fiction”, 4minute‘s “Muzik”, T-ara‘s “Bo Peep Bo Peep”, and a commercial song for Kim Jong Gook.
On this episode, Eunjung and Soyeon (T-ara), HyunA and Jiyoon (4minute), Lizzy, Jungah, and Kahi (After School), and Doojoon and Junyung (BEAST), all made appearances as well to show the two composers their support.
