SNSD Becomes First Celebrity to Get 1 Million Friends on KakaoTalk

Everybody wants to be friends with Girls’ Generation (SNSD).

On July 7, SNSD broke the one million friend mark on the social networking service, KakaoTalk’s Plus Friend feature.

The Plus Friend feature allows the user to add his or her favorite celebrity or brand and receive text messages with the most updated information about them.




SNSD’s Plus Friend feature began in December of 2011 and fans from Korea, China, USA, England, and 150 different countries added the group to their friend list, allowing SNSD to become the first celebrity to reach over one million friends.

Friends of SNSD on KakaoTalk are able to receive news about the group’s schedules, concerts, photos, videos, and other media.
