Kim Dong Wan Puts ‘Spin Kick’ Behind Him with ‘Deranged’

Shinhwa’s Kim Dong Wan finally got over the failure of his last film with Deranged.

According to the Korean Film Council′s Compiled Ticket Computer Network, Kim Dong Wan’s Deranged drew in a total of 1,704,277 moviegoers up to July 10, which was just six days after the film’s premiere.

On July 10 alone 192,091 tickets were sold. This means that at this rate, the film just may break through the 2 million mark by July 12.



The film is, of course, precious to all of the leads, but to Kim Dong Wan, it means something even more special.

Kim Dong Wan was the most enthusiastic out of the Shinhwa members about his acting career. He continued to meet with movie directors from many different genres to show his enthusiasm regardless of the scale of the film.

Because Kim Dong Wan wasn’t a proven player on the big screen, however, it wasn’t easy to get a role. It especially didn’t help that his film Spin Kick, which premiered eight years ago in 2004, flopped in the box office with a 40,000 audience.

Before the premiere of Deranged, Kim Dong Wan had met with enews to say, “I’ve been through 80,000 for Spin Kick. A million is too much for me.”

Deranged, however, spilled over his expectations to score a huge success. It already passed a million four days after its premiere.

A source close to Kim Dong Wan said, “Kim Dong Wan was very enthusiastic about acting, but he was always anxious because he hadn’t been recognized on the big screen. He’s very happy that the film is a success. He’ll continue to act in great pieces.”

Kim Dong Wan will be appearing in guerilla stage events for Deranged on July 11 in theaters in Yeongdeungpo to share his happiness.
